Re: Mr. Jones collaboration
It is better to look at this as a Christopher Ward with input from Mr. Jones Watches rather than a Mr. Jones Watch with Christopher Ward input. Crispin Jones say pretty much that in the Casual Watch Reviews video. This was not an easy watch to decorate in this style and parts of each watch are handpainted. This does justify the price somewhat. It's at the CW price point and not the MJW price point for a whole bunch of reasons.

I like it! It’s exactly what I would expect in a CW/MJW collaboration. Definitely fun and whimsical and more art than novelty.

I like it! It’ll surely sell out, probably quickly.

Re: Mr. Jones collaboration
I've watched some of the social meeja content, enough to know that I'll step back and avoid getting trampled in the rush to ownership. It's a choice thing, that's all.
I'm sure it'll be a financial success for CW and Mr Jones (do we call it a "Jonesey watch"?)

It’s fun, I like that CW does it, it looks well made, but it’s not for me. That’s ok.

Definitely not for me. I'm glad others like it though.

There is a watch for everyone. I like the crazy look. Can't pull it off as I am too conservative but I am certain there is market for this.

I can appreciate the whimsy in Bea’s art, but can’t get past the notion that I’d be paying £2k for a kids watch. Reminds me of the Moon/Sun nightlights we put in our kids rooms when they were toddlers. Not for me but I’m sure it will find its demographic.
Re: Mr. Jones collaboration
I am intrigued by the ambiguity of the hour and minute markers. The design choice in the illustration and colours appears to deliberately not make them obviously distinguishable from each other,so that in positions where they are greater than 90 degrees apart, time telling could take a few seconds of extra thought and perhaps, use inferences from the environment to work out which is the hour and which is the minute.
A watch as a regular puzzle to solve, in order to tell the time. Hmmm. I find the idea of slow deliberate time-telling to be an appealing one, though I’m neutral on the illustration at the moment.

They're very interesting, but why are they so small? Why aren't they 40mm?

Re: Mr. Jones collaboration
The arrangement with the birds looks very much like the kind of mystery dial that was popularised by a number of manufacturers in the 1950s and 60s. Nothing really new there.
As to liking or not liking it, it’s a question of taste. Regular correspondents know the kind of thing I like, so I’ll leave it there.
