Modified C8 Power Reserve

Post by Clach77 »

Since the C8 Power Reserve came out I’ve loved the design, with a couple of caveats. The main one was the case. I’ve always preferred the bead blasted case of the earlier C8s. I also like the old radium lume of the PVD case model as opposed to the white of the steel case model.

Earlier this year a slightly tired PVD C8 appeared on eBay. I put in a bid, forgot about it only to discover that I’d won at less that my highest bid. The next step was to contact Jay at Motor City Watch Works and post it off. I’m delighted with what was delivered this evening. All that has been done is the PVD removed. It’s worth nothing that Jay left the rehaut black as he thought it matched the black dial. All I had to do was fit the strap kindly given to me by Guy. The results are below, along with a photo of my old C8 MkI.

Thanks folks. The ‘factory’ comments are interesting and a credit to the great job that Jay always does. It’s one that I know that I’ll enjoy. :)

I am a big fan of the World Timer version of this watch. It has been on my radar for a while.

Great result, and a one of a kind. Also very nice that you have found a watchmaker willing and able to produce results like this.

From the title of the thread, I thought for a moment you had done something to modify the power reserve of the C8 watch.....
