Never been comfortable with this ‘model.’ The fact that Dan was a Forum member, had a bit of a ‘heads up’ with certain sales then certain watches appeared on his site with a considerable mark-up, always made me uncomfortable. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a lovely fella and a delight to deal with but it’s a bit odd that after posting on here that he is bailing out due, primarily, CW’s customer service/attention to detail being abysmal, but now his reasons for jacking in are family/workload based. I wish him well, I really do…but, I may be wrong but I’ve always been a bit uncomfortable with the WardHoard thing. I’m clearly daft, but when I sell a CW it will go on here, probably cheaper than I could get elsewhere, but I know it will go to a like-minded lunatic and good home.

From what I saw, he’s asking a minimum of 30k pounds for the whole thing which includes inventory currently listed for 39k pounds. So it’s a lot better than “starting from scratch” if someone was interested.

I've had a good few chats with Dan, who is a genuinely lovely guy, over the past couple of weeks. I spent a morning last week with him going through how it all works, packed up the car with an enormous bunch of stuff and now, Ward Hoard is under new ownership.

I very much plan to run it along similar lines to Dan and also have a few interesting things planned for the New Year. (If I'm allowed to say it here, please sign up to the mailing list on the website to find out more.)

Don't mix business with pleasure - that's what they say...

We'll see what happens, but I take solace that, in the worst case, my CW collection has just grown tenfold!

I used to think that selling here was some guarantee of a good home so seeing a watch I'd sold here straight up on EBay with a considerable markup was a reminder that it is not. Rather like you @Gar787 I personally would not flip something I'd bought here.

Congratulations and good luck with your new venture.

Despite a pile of mixed emotions on this forum when Dan launched Ward Hoard, he did build a nice business and I have heard nothing but good things about the business itself. I hope you can capitilize on the assetts that you have acquired and grow the business even more.

Good time to buy too, with the January sale on the horizon.

Best of luck for the future.
