Logo change
Re: Logo change
Wow guys not sure what all that was about. I just love watches and like minded people. Thanks Devarika, the images certainly do illustrate the strength of the changed logo but I think only on some models but I am certainly more sympathetic to the change and as always the views of others. Relax folks, all is well.

We don't either. But you mention logo, and, well, it's on.klarhmt wrote:Wow guys not sure what all that was about.

Guess so. Certainly not a boring forum though. Think I might stick around for awhile.

Re: Logo change
I am guessing that Xp is Chi-rho, the classic Greek abbreviation for Christ, being also the first two letters of Χριστóφορος, or Christopher in Greek. Quite what the R is doing there I know not. And chi-rho transliterated is...CHR. Perfectly good.

Re: Logo change
I agree that the X must be a chi. But my guess was that the p really is an English P, and the p and r are there because the English Christopher has a p in the middleish and an r at the end. This would fit in with the practice of X being used for Christ/Christos in abbreviations like Xmas, etc. And according to the list Chr.was actually used for the name Christian. (Personally, me like. Not all Chrises are Christophers you know.) But Chr. works perfectly fine as an abbreviation for any Chris, and it's obviously a more coherent and visually aesthetic and consistent choice for a logo than Xpr. I may start signing my own name with Chr. to save time (and match the face of my timepiece ).Amor Vincit Omnia wrote:I am guessing that Xp is Chi-rho, the classic Greek abbreviation for Christ, being also the first two letters of Χριστóφορος, or Christopher in Greek. Why couldn't he have called himself "Dave" and had done with it.
