Can you stop this please?! I am bored of the snidey in-joke, bitchy comments aimed towards me, and others, lately.

Perhaps you could apply the same philosophical outlook to a bloke selling a few CW watches on eBay?
Risky strategy Richard. We might get another dozen pages of answers (for that read "circular debate") on both topics !!!

:hangman:
And this .. what has my comment, about the logo (which this thread refers to) got to do with the eBay threads?

And this .. another snidey remark! Let alone the injoke bitchiness on 'The Cumudgeons Corner' and 'Three Words' threads. If you fancy a bitch do it amongst each other in a PM. Doing this all over the forum, publicly, is embarrassing, and unfair.

Madjam, whilst I've not agreed with a few of your posts of late on certain subjects (no need to bring them up) I do agree with you here. It all feels a little playground to me, but I'd add it works both ways.

On the whole, this is an incredibly friendly forum, but certain subjects seem to bring the worst out in some of us - this comment isn't aimed at any particular comment/person in this thread for what it is worth - I'm as guilty as the next about being passionate about my views, it is of course ok to have an opinion.

It seems an element of common sense is needed by us posters. Clearly, logo or eBay talk is highly emotive. Maybe these topics should be parked? People just seem to fall out and that's not we are here for.

Just my 2 pence and possibly I should have stayed out of it. I certainly am not pointing fingers, intending to stoke any fires or alienate anyone and I hope the post will be received as intended.

@bobbubka ..thanks for your comment and I do agree ..I am all happy for debate and we all have opinions, and differences etc .. just feel of late there's an element of personal snideyness creeping in which is unwelcomed and unnecessary, especially, as you say, it is a very friendly forum, usually. As for the logo related thread .. I wasn't on the forum when all this kicked off so found all the discussion, retrospectively, interesting. The eBay thread did, to an extent, get out of hand, but even then, having a differing opinion led to me being told to stand down, despite others wishing to discuss the matter further (when I had even stayed clear from for a while). And now, on an unrelated thread, one of the forum members (a moderator, too!) brings it back up and has another public dig, to which I commented, and then more bitchy remarks continue. Bitch, by all means if that floats your boat, but do it offline folks.

You just cannot leave it alone, can you?

For the record, these comments are from me as a forum member, so disregard the moderator tag.

You have bitched and whined incessently about the unfairness of the guy advertising a few watches at a price you disagree with, and only a day or two ago, you had to get involved in it again. This morning, I noticed your post that trivialised the (3 year old) logo discussions and I found it incredibly ironic.

You didn't like my comment, so you decided to play the victim card. Get over yourself.

I did leave it alone and then YOU raised it on an unrelated thread just to, again, have another dig. I fail to see how ironic this can be when you had a dig at me about a whole other unrelated topic, which you told me to leave alone ..and then YOU bring it up to antagonise. I have whined, yes, but I have not bitched, unlike you and the same old suspects having your own little injokes about me, and others (newbies too) on an open forum. No, I didn't like your comment cause it was a personal dig, so yes, you made me the victim. Stop the digs, please!!

Besides, some one else brought up the old Logo thread .. as I said above, I had no history associated with this thread so found it interesting; I commented, but so have others .. yet you single me out, again. That's bullying. Leave me alone.

These are two of my watches. The quartz picture taken in early 2013 with a small Sony camera and the automatic picture taken last week with a Motorola smartphone. Two different cameras but pretty similar results! Remember to download direct from Photobucket to get best resolution.

This demonstrates perfectly why the logo needed to be changed, or at-least beefed up. In my opinion, the old logo is small and weak. It doesn't punch or bang the viewer and doesn't leave much of an impression other than the Cw circle; it's just too polite.

The new logo, while looking like one from a fashion brand, shows strength and confidence. The abbreviation of Chris is odd to the normal person but is as much uniquely "English" as the old logo. This logo is bigger and bolder, with the first name stylishly smaller than the last name, and the C & W highlighted. It might not be a favorite to everyone, but it leaves an impression for sure and you remember it. It was a sign of change and growth to come. Since it was implemented, CW have had their biggest creativity and success:

They're more well known than ever and in some places maybe selling next to the big brands at boutiques.
The majority of their models are selling well and get good reviews.
They're now appealing to the male audience that prefers smaller watches, as well as women.
The new Trident was a smash hit and profit maker and received high acclaim from the watch community.
They merged with a young innovative company and together they've modified unique movements.
Most of all, CW have created their own in-house movement which has received attention and acclaim from the whole industry.

Perhaps they could have taken the old logo and updated it but maybe they felt a change was justified as new, big things were about to come. I love it personally and think it works great on their lineup today. Don't kill me. \:D/

I don't know which "CW" came first, but I have always wondered how much this had to do with it.

Lol. You really have had an irony bypass. My comment was simply that - a comment. Since then, you have decided to become a victim (you make yourself a victim - others don't do it to you), and start crying.

You need to have the last word, so have at it. I have better things to do.

Apparently it's an old English way of shortening names. Me being a typical American, I don't know much about it. :silent:

Something of an 18th-century thing, if we are being honest. Done perhaps to reflect the tradition of Great London clock and watchmakers ...

Tho(s) Tompion
Geo Graham

And a little later Chas Frodsham and others.

It's an affectation, for sure, and it has always caused a division of opinion. I like it, but then I would. :D
