Landing tomorrow…

Post by OllyW »

Looks like another Lucerne Blue Sealander is on the way, maybe in 39mm this time?

Reading this evening's chatter on the CWE Group, Mike France reportedly referred in a recent video interview to a release of coloured dial Sealanders, similar to the 36mm LEs of a few weeks back, but in 39mm.

Well that's a shame. Limited editions turning out to not be limited editions isn't great. But, conversely the dial colours of the 36mm are so good it'll be good to see more examples of them.

^^^^ They have been Limited Editions . . . . in 36mm and are now going to be Limited Editions . . . in 39mm (as I understand it).

If anyone with the 36mm Lucerne blue decides to move up to the 39mm and sell the 36mm, please PM me. My wife asked about getting a “big girl” watch (her words, not mine!), and I think a 36mm Lucerne blue C63 might fit the bill. Full disclosure: I’m not 100% committed to this idea yet; it’s still exploratory mode

That would be a great idea! I'm not letting mine go though, sorry. Mine's a limited edition

Am I the only one that is beginning to feel that CW is becoming the next Hodinkee? Just an endless series of LE watches that sell out instantly only to be resold by flippers?

I am sure that blue strap would look great on many lady's wrists. My wife certainly prefers coloured leather to metal bracelets.

Maybe CW should follow Omega's lead and not make any more LEs. Just decide to make a small batch and don't tell anyone. Omega call this limited production. Then if it proves to be unexpectedly popular make a few more. Rinse and repeat until they don't sell out as quickly. Voila, no one is upset about having an LE reprised and CW sell more watches.

I am being a bit cynical but making "limited production" runs rather than limited editions gives a brand a lot of options. And yes, it is true that Omega haven't made a limited edition watch for nearly three years. They seem to be making the popular watches very slowly instead. This even extends to the green Seamaster launched in March which is still not regularly available. Keeps them out of Jomashop I suppose.
