Just bought a NEW C40 Speedhawk Chronograph- Automatic C40SK

Post by heliharris »

Just bought a new Speedhawk silver bezzel, leather strap, of a guy on ebay, he only listed it this afternoon. He is a Watch collector but this was an unwanted gift. Bought it for the buy it now price of £400 which seemed very reasonable to me, as it has never been worn, apart from a try on his wrist, which i believe to be genuine.

Should receive it by the end of the week, along with my wifes Victoria, which by coincidence i ordered this morning.

Mick.

Thank you all.

My original intention was to purchase a C70 DBR1 - Chronometer Version - Limited Ed.

However i was informed yesterday that they are waiting for new stock to arrive.

I then decided i would really like another Automatic CW, and thought the Speedhawk would fit the bill nicely, but would have to wait a couple of months longer so i could save a little more "pocket money" as its a little dearer than the C70.

By a sheer fluk thought i would look to see if any of CW watches were listed on ebay. The rest is history.

Great. I had already emailed this seller asking if he was interested in shipping it to the US. I was all ready to buy it.

Cripes... :)

Sorry,
I made him an offer first of £380, but then thought, NO, somebody will probably snap this up at £400 , so decided to push the button within 30mins of making the offer before even getting a reply, YOU have just proved the point.

But i do know how you must feel, because i would feel the same.

Sorry once again.

Mick.

PS. What is even stranger, the seller of this watch lives in the same London borough town (Eltham) as i lived in 40yrs ago and only two streets away. Jesus i think i will do the lottery this week.

Oh don't be sorry. I would have done exactly the same thing. Ha!

As a matter of fact, I bought a Tag Aquaracer on ebay a month ago where the guy had a "best offer" option on the auction, I submitted an offer, and thought about it...

The price was already obscenely low, and I sat and thought -- ok someone is going to snap this up. Then I went back to the offer screen and it showed me that 6 other offers had been made. So I jumped on it.

I see that the Ebay listing says "Movement: Quartz: Battery" which would be a surprise for a C40! I expect the seller accidentally left this field on a default value when doing his listing.

Congrats on a real bargain. As everyone else has said, you won't regret buying a C40.

I'm wearing mine this week, I forget what a lovely piece it is and every now and then you get the wobble... just to remind you its there and working away. Brilliant!

Enjoy and don't forget those pictures..
