Must be something about green dial watches.

Re: July Sale 2024 Thread
I didn't search hard enough then.
Searching for Aqui just gave me GMT's - see below
I looked in dive watches, but didn't think to look in retro, and assumed there weren't any.
I found several other unexpected watches in retro. I wouldn't have looked there for a military themed watch either.
CW may not sell as many of these as they would like if they are hard to find.
Maybe put aquitaines and super compressors in the dive watches, and have a new category for field watches for dunes and so on, and a new category for GMT watches, and Service/Military themed.
Why not double some watches up, so they are in retro and dive for instance. Also check and fix the searches. Just playing around, it's a bit hit and miss, and I know what I'm expecting to see. A new customer might miss a lot of options.

Re: July Sale 2024 Thread
I don’t think the photos on the CW website ever did them justice. The sunray finish seemed over emphasised on the CW photos but it’s a lot more subtle in real life.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 9:53 am ^^^^ The Green 3-hand Aquitaine was retired in Dec 2023 - CWArchive

Re: July Sale 2024 Thread
@JAFO - if you search as you did with 'Aqui' and then accept the 'Do you mean?' suggestion of 'Aquitaine' you get the full selection.

Re: July Sale 2024 Thread
Hi Guy
I just lost a few minutes typing a reply, and had to do it all again.
I really don't think it's intuitive, and it's not actually not working correctly in some cases.
If you type a partial word in the search box, you get the "did you mean" option. If you type the full word, you don't.
For what it's worth I have seen mis-spelled versions of Aquitaine on line, aquatine being a common one. Getting the first few letters might work. Aqua just shows aquaflex straps. aquat suggests "did you mean aquitaine" however.
Any search only shows 3 models with no slider bar. I think it ought to return a full list with a slider bar personally or no list at all, so that you have to click a "find" button.
If you enter aqui and click "did you mean" it shows you 10 items, 5 aquitaines, and 5 dunes, as per your example. (why dunes, by the way. If you search for dune, you don't see any aquitaines). Also the first 3 items shown are dunes, not aquitaines.
If you enter aquitaine in full and click the magnifying glass to the right you get the same 10 items, with no "did you mean" option.
However, If you enter just aqui and click the magnifying glass it shows you 21 items, 19 aquitaines, and 2 aquitaine bracelets, and no dunes.
I tried bron and bronze, and always got 26 items.
So it looks like the "did you mean", and the magnifying glasses do slightly different things. I suspect also there must be a cloud of search terms for each watch. Maybe whoever set it up got a little bit sloppy or didn't realize the importance and either didn't enter aquitaine in full or spelt correctly in the search terms for some of the products. Maybe one search checks product tags, and one searches full product names.
Anyway, I could easily see someone coming to CW having seen an Aquitaine review on line, and not finding it in dive watches. Then trying a search and giving up after only seeing GMT variants. I wasn't trying to be argumentative. I searched for aquitaine, saw 3 GMT models listed, and just assumed the 3 hand versions had been discontinued. I was quite surprised by the discussion.

I just went into the website on my phone…
Watches >
Dive >
32 shown including 3 Aquitaine 3 handers -
Blue bronze
White SS
Blue SS
On occasions I have noticed inconsistency in the watches that show up.

I (and I think you too) were referencing this one which was discounted 45% for a NOS (not NN). I wanted it but it was gone before I could even get all my info into the online purchase form/cart. And now some jerk is trying to flip it for more money on eBay...not cool.

Isn't that how trends have been going the past few years...Blue, then Green, and now Purple.

Re: July Sale 2024 Thread
Well, a few hybrids cropped up at the end of the sale. I secured a black and orange one with this watch in mind. The watch came on a fitted black rubber strap that was very difficult to remove. It's actually difficult to fit any thicker straps as the lugs are short, but I managed to get this one seated, although my thumbnail will need a week or so to rebuild. I also think the watch case might damage the fabric but the CW hybrids are quite robust. I have others that aren't as good as the CW hybrids which do show wear. Anyway this is a good match.
Edit. I will post this on the non CW of the day as well.

Re: July Sale 2024 Thread
There have been instances where different watches show up depending on which currency you choose too. I have also seen watches show up in 'show all' that don't show up by any other method. There is definitely some wonkiness in the back end it seems.

Conventional wisdom is that you should always buy watches on bracelet. But if I had, I wouldn’t have bought a C65 bracelet for half price in the clearance!
