Re: January 2022 Sale
Thanks for the quick reply! I have often wondered how they figured that.

Re: January 2022 Sale
My wife just sighed and said, "do you really need another watch?"
Which I thought was a silly response.

Re: January 2022 Sale
We never know. That's the sort of clearance item that is likely to crop up at half price though, if there are still any in stock. Good luck.
Re: January 2022 Sale
And both answers are correct. No you don't need another, and at the same time, how can you not want a bargain?scampbell61 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 3:04 pmMy wife just sighed and said, "do you really need another watch?"

Re: January 2022 Sale
My ‘top tips’ for achieving success/avoiding disappointment in the CW sale:
1. It’s a feeding frenzy. If you snooze
, you will lose
!
2. Some offers will be for single watches and there will be multiple people trying to buy at the same time , so you need to be quick. To avoid delays while buying and increase your chances of securing the watch you want, ensure your address and payment card details are up to date now rather than once the sale goes live - if you faff around adding a new address at the time, chances are you’ll get the dreaded “item no longer available” message before you complete the purchase!
3. If you manage make it to the order confirmation page (many unfortunately won’t) and you receive the confirmation email, then there’s a very good chance the watch is yours
- but there’s no guarantee
. That’s because CW sell LOTS of watches during the sale and those taking care of the fulfilment have been known to pick and pack the wrong watches - they’re mad busy, so mistakes WILL be made. Occasionally you will receive the wrong watch or someone else will have been sent ‘your’ watch, leaving CW unable to fulfil your order. Don’t get too upset
, they’re only human and will usually do their best to appease you with a special offer on an alternative watch.
4. We (or at least most of us) live in a capitalist/free market world, so a small percentage of sale watches will be bought by flippers
looking to turn a quick profit (I’d guess around 5% of sale watches find their way onto eBay). Rather than getting upset that ‘some
shyster stole’ the £800-down-to-£400 watch you were trying to buy, consider using flippers to your advantage. Once multiple eBay sellers start trying to flip the same model, they usually start cutting each other’s throats in a mini price war. If you REALLY wanted that £800 watch, it might become available on eBay for as low as £450-£500, which is still a good deal (I actually buy quite a few CW watches this way!). If you only wanted it at £400, you were probably chasing the bargain more than the watch.
5. Last time around, CW implemented a five watches per customer limit on sale items, so check the small print if you’re planning to buy more than one to make sure you don’t fall foul there
- I did first time around
.
6. If you missed the watch you wanted, all is not lost. A good number of orders get cancelled before they’re shipped or returned for refunds, so sale stock is often replenished in the days/weeks following the initial frenzy. So keep checking back and you might get lucky on round two, three etc.
7. And finally, to avoid unnecessary domestic issues
, don’t forget to take your partner out a nice restaurant, book them a massage or do whatever you need to do BEFORE the sale starts! Either that or have your new watch/es posted to your office or a friend’s house!

Re: January 2022 Sale
I waited too long and blew my chance of getting an Al Deere. Hoping maybe they found one in the cushions!
