Re: Impressions of CW........
Maybe the contradiction is simply a case of CW hoping that they got it right but having been constantly told that they, maybe, haven’t, being big enough to say okay, we’ll consider the possibility that, down the line, we may change this?

Be nice to know exactly what it was that made 'perfect sense' and what 'new markets' it has opened up?Richard D wrote:That contradicts what Chris told the Facebook Group when we visited No:1 a few months ago. Chris talked about the brand changes and why they were made. It all made prefect sense, especially as new markets have opened up. The ‘London Tube’ font, as he called it, will in time be succeed by something else. When we don’t know, but what we witnessed on our tour was that the rebranding has increased growth and has fuelled the company’s ambition.
If the rebranding has increased growth it makes little sense in changing the logo again, or was that 'in time be succeeded by something else' just a non-comittal response to questioning?

They should just change the name to plain WARD. I can imagine the inventive taglines already:
"When you want to pint for a Rolex but can only afford a ward of a watch... make it a Chris Ward."
"Don't have the dosh for an Omega holiday gift? Don't be awkward... be ChrisWard. "
"The C60 Trident MK III: The world's most prideful diver to be inspired by the Submariner. Only by Ward. Chris Ward."

What we were told was that the CHR caused confusion in non English speaking countries hence the new logo making perfect sense”. As for new markets they have been opened up in the Far East. On a separate note, such was the success of the Group visit, another has been organised with even more folks wanting to attend. I can honestly say it was a fabulous day out, we were so well looked after.Caller wrote:Be nice to know exactly what it was that made 'perfect sense' and what 'new markets' it has opened up?Richard D wrote:That contradicts what Chris told the Facebook Group when we visited No:1 a few months ago. A trip around CWL HQ would be interesting but sadly way too far to travel given I've no expectation of buying anything from them in the future.Richard D wrote:

Okay, thanks. Nothing new then, as the above has been reported for some time.Richard D wrote:What we were told was that the CHR caused confusion in non English speaking countries hence the new logo making perfect sense”. As for new markets they have been opened up in the Far East.
When you actually break that down, to my mind, it makes little sense. I can't quite see how non-English speaking Countries (are there any - maybe England? ) would be confused by CHR any more than the full name, but we had this discussion before and I recall getting told off by Asian members here from the far east, unlike me, being a mere 'farang' here!

Re: Impressions of CW........
Belatedly responding on this thread.
I was first drawn to CW by iirc, seeing ads & reviews for them in Top Gear and in particular I think it was the brightly coloured C70 GP series that caught my eye. I then searched and found the forum and that got me even more into them as a brand.
I think what did/does appeal about CW is that they have made so many varied watches - motorsport, divers, dress watches, aviators, regulators, jump hour, GMT, in house movement (JJ) and on the whole done them all really well and at a great price and value for money. I cannot obviously think of any/many other brands that do such a variation in model of watches (maybe Tag?) and certainly not at the price.
I currently own 8 CW's but have probably owned another 9 or 10 that I sold purely to keep the overall collection size under control.
The fact they are a small, British company and therefore relatively accesible also appeals.
Yes times change and Wera has left, we've now gone through 2 logo changes and some of the models haven't been replaced and prices maybe slightly higher....however I essentially think the soul of CW is still there and they are still making some really nice watches with a couple of intereting ones on the horizon. I still see myself as a potential buyer of new models.

I agree. I plan to a SOTC soon showcasing my group of CWs; which are a mix of new and old, logo to logo. I'm still a fan, and I think they're in a real strong place.Thegreyman wrote:Yes times change and Wera has left, we've now gone through 2 logo changes and some of the models haven't been replaced and prices maybe slightly higher....however I essentially think the soul of CW is still there and they are still making some really nice watches with a couple of intereting ones on the horizon.
