I was expecting a repaired watch but then this arrived!

Post by tikkathree »

PS first: am I the only one who creates a draft post, goes to send or save it and then be asked to log in? I WAS already bleeping logged in and now the text has gone down a hole so, out of love, I'm creating it again from memory! :silent:

I'd received the emails telling me that a delivery was en route from CW via DPD: good I thought, that'll be my C65 Trident blue dial hand winder back from repair as I don't really expect either of the two new watches which I'd hoped to see in 2025.

DPD had emailed to confirm that they'd put the delivery in my secret safe place and I was a little surprised by the weight of the standard box containing a C65 watch head so, in we go and pull off the tear-off strip.

I am delighted to present to you #12/50 of the CW Enthusiasts facebook group's C63 GMT Sunset Limited Edition TADAAAA!!!!

I'm afraid that daylight is done for today so these photos will have to do for today. 39mm case, lovely sunset orange dial and date wheel. Bracelet sized, date, time and 2d TZ set and on we go. Can't wait to see it in daylight tomorrow!

I love the look at that watch. Do you know if it’s still available from whichever link you got it from?

Nice. The blue GMT hand is a real winner!

@tikkathree
I've been having logged out issues all day. I put it down to being on holiday, and a flaky hotel WiFi,but maybe it's a more general problem. :D

In response to your PS - This has happened to me twice which was very annoying. So now, if my post is likely to be lengthy, I write the draft in Word and then copy/paste it to where it needs to be.

Which of course is the wise course of action.

Short answer, no I know not. Here's the original facebook post: I can only get it open by going into Christopher WArd Enthusiasts in facebook and searching for "Sunset" https://www.facebook.com/groups/1879355 ... /?q=Sunset - there's mention of a waiting list on the basis of potential drop-out: or you could contact CW? Peter France dealt with the pre-orders.

That's exceptional! I haven't had a Facebook in years, debating whether it's worth it just to get in the group. Missing out on LE's like this one is tough to stomach.

Thank you. I signed up for it straight away knowing that my Sealander GMT green hombre is both a favourite and different enough from this dial that the two would compliment each other rather than weaken the appeal.
I don't say there weren't moments during the long wait when I lost interest...

Maybe a photo of the pair latter today and I should approach the archive with more determination: I looked yesterday and found a non-GMT variant by the same facebook group but not this one.

Yep, I also considered cancelling mine a few times too, particularly after all the issues I had with my FLE. In fact so much so that that I’d forgotten to mention it at home (I don’t buy many watches and this arrived a bit out of the blue). My partner sent me a message asking if I was expecting a CW package.
Looking forward to seeing it when I’m home but also debating if it’ll stay given the excitement has waned. (Though seeing photos here is raising that excitement again)

@tikkathree Nice pick up. Is there a blue ring the same color as the GMT hand around the caseback crystal? Or is that just an artifact of the photography. If it is there on purpose that is a nice touch.

I can confirm that the dial colour is unlike any other CW you might have.

The blue ring is a real thing and not just a trick of the light. Daylight has gone here and the blue ring looks brighter under these conditions than the GMT hand so I'm gambling on them being of different colours. Does it perform a task? I think it's purely cosmetic.

Interesting observation on the Sellita SW330-2 movement: out of the box and a few hours later it was running -12 dial up and -10 dial down: overnight it has settled to -2 in both positions.
