Only my second ever CW spotted in the wild and it's another chap on a train (Waterloo this time) sporting a C8 pilot! There must be something about London commuters and aviation watches....
How often do you see strangers wearing a CW?

It only happened to me for the first this past April.
While diving in Bonaire I met e fellow diver from Portugal wearing a Trident blue Atoll. He was very surprised that I recognised his watch.
Me ? I was wearing a Citizen Aqualand, that is what I wear for actual diving these days (it has a very handy depth meter).

I was in a jewellers in Southampton recently treating myself to a new Tudor Ranger on bracelet to commemorate a significant life event (I like to get myself a watch to mark these occasions). I was wearing a black 39mm Sealander gmt and the young (well young to me) sales person was wearing a white Sealander 36mm. We recognised each other’s watches and had a great chat about watches in general and CW in particular.

I needed reading glasses for the first time so made an appointment at my local opticians. I was wearing my C3 Grand Tourer and a short sleeved shirt. Sat down with the optician and after some preliminary chit-chat almost the first comment he made was “is that a Christopher Ward, don’t see many of those?”. Turned out he was a keen watch collector and we spent more time discussing watches than the condition of my eyes!

Not quite me seeing someone else wearing a CW but was browsing ‘for exhibition only’ Rolex models at Heathrow and the sales associate jumped at my new Orange Lumière (on its first outing ever), saying he’d seen it online and had been drawn to it, had heard it described as a ‘Pelagos killer’. Let him have a hands on demo and had a nice chat about the brand.

I post a few watch pictures now and then to a little Instagram account - 1 follower and counting!

I wear a CW almost every day and never had anyone comment or seen one on the commute, at work, travelling etc. Bought my partner a C63 Celest for her birthday and the second or third time she wore it her boss spotted it asked if it was a Christopher Ward! She’s not a watch person but was chuffed and now sees her boss in a different light (although confirmed he doesn’t own a CW!).
