Apart from my own, I have never seen one out in the wild.

Same here. Before I purchased one, I had not seen a CWL in the metal. Shame, really.FarmerPalmer wrote:Apart from my own, I have never seen one out in the wild.

I finally met someone who was wearing a CW watch.
I was getting some vaccinations at a local pharmacy and the pharmacist was wearing a C5. He was really pleased when he bought the watch that he got 30% off in a previous sale and was able to get a good quality automatic for a sensible price. He is looking forward to being able to buy another in the future.

Once, and it happened to be the day before I received mine.
It was a blue dial/blue bezel 43mm. My wife and I went to see Jim Gaffigan at the MGM near DC a few weeks ago and a guy in my row had it on. I noticed the logo on the clasp when he walked by and checked it out after he sat down a few seats away. Didn't get to speak to him about it though.

How would you have started the conversation with him? You don't know him.Rice & Gravy wrote:Once, and it happened to be the day before I received mine.

You don't need to worry about this approach with CW owners because we are all nice people.drand wrote:Steady on, you'll scare off all us introverts.Kip wrote:Hi...my name is....or.... I couldn't help but notice your watch.
One wouldn't take that approach with, say, an IWC wearer as they are, by definition, a self centred sociopath.

I have never seen anyone wearing a CW in person. First time I saw one was when I bought it online. I know that you should always try it on before you buy but I just had to go for it. If I saw a stranger wearing a CW I would actually compliment them for having good taste. I do like the fact that not everyone knows about CW and some times when I speak to friends who are into more popular Swiss watches I sometimes catch them having a quick glance at my watch to try and work out what make it is. . .

Re: How often do you see strangers wearing a CW?
I finally met someone wearing a CW today. It was my dentist! He was wearing a 43mm C60 600 White Dial with Black Bezel on steel bracelet. I only got a quick glance, mostly it was from side on, but I think it was the GMT version.
Unfortunately, he was in too much of a rush for me to ask him about it. But I will try to do so when I see him again in 6 months!

My dentist owns a number of CWs too! But then my dentist is my oldest daughter, so it .. doesn't .. really .. count...welshlad wrote:I finally met someone wearing a CW today. It was my dentist! You're right, that probably doesn't count as a "stranger"!gaf1958 wrote:My dentist owns a number of CWs too! But then my dentist is my oldest daughter, so it .. doesn't .. really .. count...

Re: How often do you see strangers wearing a CW?
Major excitement this afternoon. I was in a project review in the North East. The PM who was sat next to me, a guy I've only met once or twice before was wearing....a CW! It was a new logo C1000 Typhoon Pilot Edition, looked really good in the flesh..£1k worth of titanium case, Valjoux movement iirc. It is on the standard nato type strap. It was a busy meeting and a busy day so did not get a chance to chat to him to see how much of a CW fanboy he is. The next time I'm down there I'll find all that out. Certainly was a highlight of a frankly sh1tty day workwise!

I never seen anybody in the US wearing Christopher Ward. But being the company only started in the 90s I'm assuming most people that ordered their watches have not received them yet

Now, now. Kip would be the person to speak to about that, I think. I had conversed in this forum with another CW owner in Cincinnati after getting myShooter723 wrote:I never seen anybody in the US wearing Christopher Ward. Scooter Blue, but never met him in person. Eventually the brand ought to build more presence here, but it is difficult to gauge the numbers sold in the US, many buyers may not be forum members.
Might be a time for another US GTG?
