Leuk ... een mede forum genoot

Normaal kom ik er niet heel veel tegen.
Op het Lum-Tec forum, daar zit ook een van onze collega's: Sam922.

Great to see you...bijzonder als U schrijven in het Engels  (Did I get that right?)

At appears so though :D

I think your Dutch is better then for instance the most Germans can. Really good.

About my English ... its ok. If i dont know how a word is written, Google can help me out.
But stil. You have the American way of writing, and the English way. For example the word; Colour (English) or Color (American). I prefer the last one.

What's also funny is that most English / American people confuse; Dutch or Deutsch.
The second one is the in German written word: German. So thats sometimes confusing for English people.
Great to see you...bijzonder als U schrijven in het Engels  (Did I get that right?)
You almost nailed it down, Nicely done.

There are 4 translations what you can use for the word; You. In this case: U, en Jou, and even sometimes: Jij and Uw.

Dutch is a very complicated language, even for us; Dutch people.

Never. As far as I know, I am the only one in my area. I do spread the word though.

I saw my first CW watch this morning. There was a guy on the bus from Waterloo wearing a C20 Lido with a black strap. It looked good.

Can't wait for my C60 Trident Pro to arrive..

So that's from Holland and the Netherlands (and the Kingdom of the Netherlands), as opposed to being from the Netherlands but not Holland..? Unless, of course, you are from the Kingdom of the Netherlands, but not the Netherlands. :?

Confusing, isn't it? It's to do with our English use of the word "Dutch"
Their word for their own nationality and language is "Nederlands"
Their word for German is "Duits", just as the German word for German is "Deutsch"
Whereas we confuse them by referring to "Nederlands" as "Dutch", which is what we should, correctly, have called German!

I think!

If have another one; The Germans call us; Holländer, and our country; Der Niederlande, or Holland.
And we speak; Hollandisch, or Niederlandisch. But it is the same.

We call the Gemans; Duitsers, and there language; Duits (English: German).
And the Germanic (Dutch: Germaans) Languages are; English, Dutch, German, and so on. :D

@ Loddonite

Its like this: If we say; where from Holland, or The Netherlands ... it is the same.

The Kingdom of The Netherlands is a story on his own ..

I know ... its very confusing :winkgrin2:

LOL I am well used to knowing the difference only because of going to each country quite a few times and more important some of the classic car owners I know for each country both have comments about each other which makes me laugh..

Now in America ( not all I have some very educated US mates ) .. I have been sat in a bar in South Carolina when I was chatting with this guy who asked where I was from?

I said the UK.. he said " where's that? "

"Where's what ?"

" where abouts is the UK in the US? " :?

I ordered another beer

there own country ... but beyond those borders :löl:

Shame on you indeed.

Is there any real difference between Holland and Belgium? (Apart from the fact that Holland actually has a government...)
