Wow! That’s a staggering price. As great as the Bel Canto is, that is well beyond what makes sense to me. Hope the buyer is happy. I’m sure the seller is.

I’ve been watching some of these auctions as well. Combine that with the Graphite selling out in in a matter of hours…looks to me like CW has hit the big time. Just personal preference mind you, but I wouldn’t trade either of them for my C8PR.

I do believe the overwhelming success of the Bel Canto has a lot to do with a limited edition like the C60 Graphite selling out in a couple of hours. The Graphite was a nice watch with the dark looks of the Lympstone & Abyss watches but better lume for reading the time at night. The Bel Canto has changed the watch world’s perception of CW & elevated the entire range in the eyes of many watch enthusiasts. And, the Graphite was a bargain compared to similar CW watches like this Lympstone. With that said, that is a whopping price for a watch that may still be purchased in an open series of four other colors.

Maybe the buyer didn't realise he might get a shot at the new colours in a couple of days. Maybe he wanted the blue. Maybe he was happy to pay the premium.

In passing a couple of WF videos seem to have slipped by pretty well unnoticed, but Andrew Morgan continues to lavish praise on the CW, especially naming it as the best watch of the year, period. :D

I look forward to a conversation that goes something like this

Them : that’s a great looking watch
Me : Thanks - it’s a CW sandstorm LE
Them : LE?? But I’ve never seen that one before
Me : Oh I’ve been into CW since the trident mk 1
Them : you mean... BBC?? (Before Bel Canto)??
Me : yeah.
Them : well where can I get one?
Me : a sandstorm? You can’t - they sold out.
Them : would you sell me yours?
Me : no - I like wearing it
Them : name your price
Me : no price, I like wearing it...

And then it gets interesting:-

Them: Good, I'm glad that you like it; that means that I'll like it too. Do you remember what I asked you last?
MissF: Name your price?
Them: That's right. I asked you to name your price for this watch that you like wearing.
MissF: Er....
Them: What's your grail watch?
MissF: Well it's a <inserts name of dream watch>
Them: Here we go then, let's make that dream come true.

If someone offered me $8500 for my Bel Canto, well I'd probably sell it too.

No doubt the CW Christmas party was more lavish than ever!

Interestingly (for me at least) is that 'er in doors has always been a bit meh on my CW's yet would have been quite happy for me to buy a purple Bel Canto regardless of the price.

Currently one on Chrono24 for $11000 US.

Remember, Americans love immediate gratification
There is some perceived mystique around exclusivity and an LE stirs that pot
If you want one now, you gots to pay up
I am fine with waiting for mine some time next year
I am happy for the seller and for the manufacturer for hitting such a home run
Again, I would really enjoy seeing the order volume they got for the 4 new colors

One day I will learn that the right move is to buy a watch, leave it in the box, and don't take off any stickers. It has be the right watch though. :D

I think the private pre-orders is closing (extended) today, and then it will be offered to the wider public. So the volume won't be finalized for a while.

^^^^ and CW are unlikely to ever disclose the number of pieces of the four Open Series colours; although there's a chance that Mike France might refer to them anecdotally in an interview at some stage.

Sorry, I meant to say, I would like to see the order volume that came from the folks who got on the waiting list after the 2 LE colors sold out.

For example 15,000 ordered, 13,000 in purple, 1500 in black, 490 in light blue, 10 in Rosa.
