The C1 Bel Canto is a remarkable achievement. Then to consider the price point where Christopher Ward operates, even with this Bel Canto resident in the upper reaches of the CW space, this watch and its mechanics is an incredible offering from the brand. It opens up to a much broader audience the means to acquire an hour chiming watch that was once unthinkable for many.

I have to chuckle just a little as I think back to my school days in the eighties when digital watches were the rage and hearing the hourly beep-beeps scattered around the classroom, especially as not all watches kept perfect time. :)

Hodinkee have always been a bit sniffy about, well, everything really, but especially CW. It's good to see that's changing.

Hodinkee in general seems to be a lot less pretentious now there's more writers and there's less of Ben's articles.

In case you wondered about the name, I was doing some research a few years ago into the etymology of watch and clock words and discovered that the Czech word for watch is “Hodinky”. Apologies if you already knew that.

I did the research for a forum milestone post years ago. Might make an interesting read.

A good article, particularly the opportunity to see the drawings.

Having owned CW watches since 2013 the Bel Canto is the watch that has secured the future success of CW. :)

And no I have not been a CW fanboy throughout the entire period since 2013. There were times when I wouldn’t have worn any of the models that were released. :silent:
