A few months ago my wife was posting a vintage hand wound I had sold and the lady asked about the contents.........
To cut a long story short my wife had to eventually say that there was a battery enclosed because the woman could simply not comprehend how a watch could possibly work without one ??????

I thought this amusing that a quartz watch was used to demonstrate how to wind a watch.

How big is a turn? As so many others have advised just wind it until you start to feel some resistance.

I just call a turn whatever my fingers do naturally. You'll feel the resistance, but wind slowly the first few times so you catch it
