Re: Got my Trident Back, shouldn't have bothered
Wow, that really sucks. I bought a Trident with a missing lume pip and inquired about getting a replacement from CW (I was happy to pay for them to send one) and was told I needed to send the watch back and resisted mostly because it is a stupid easy fix and I could install it myself.
I didn't want to be without my new (used) watch and decided I would do something myself. Now I am glad I did. In my case I put a 2mm blue sapphire in the cup that holds the lume pip. I wound up not caring for the blue sapphire and removed the sapphire and the cup and installed a 2,25 mm white sapphire.

After much back and forth with CWL they agreed to fix the pip, regulate the movement and recase the watch if the damage was as I had described it.
I got an email last week saying the damage had turned out to be some sort of residue and has been cleaned off, the watch has been regulated and was ready for despatch along with a complimentary service pod! I arrived via DHL this morning:
As mentioned elsewhere (repeatedly I know, sorry), I'm going to wear it for a few days and then contemplate a consolidation.

Wow. 4 months to fix a botched repair job. Makes me happy I've never had to utilize CW warranty service. If it takes this long to fix a bad repair job, I can only imagine how long it takes for a service.

C'mon, you have to allow two weeks either way for shipping from / to the Caribbean, so its only three months for the repair.Lavaine wrote:Wow. 4 months to fix a botched repair job. A long time I grant you but less than some (most?) watches manufacturers.
@James80 - good to see it back with you. Wear it in good health.

A botched repair job should never take that kind of time, regardless of delivery times. Should have been expedited to the top of the pile

Sadly, it would seem there's quite a lot of "top of the pile" kind of work needed of late.sproughton wrote:A botched repair job should never take that kind of time, regardless of delivery times. Should have been expedited to the top of the pile

First 24 hours it's approx +3secs, much better.
Also let me clear up the timeline to be fair to CWL as a lot of the delay was me.
The first repair took three months from being mailed in England to being returned to Trinidad by regular return post (two weeks or so).
When I got it back there were two weeks of emails back and forth and then it sat in a drawer for almost two months whilst I mulled over it, it was returned to the UK via DHL (took forever in UK customs) and returned via DHL (three days) so the actual time from arrival at CW to being returned to me was five weeks and yes they said the repair was "fast tracked".

Definitely good stuff. That's within COSC spec.james80 wrote:+5 after 48 hours, good stuff!
So will this be a keeper, for now, or off to the sales corner?

Not sure, if I decide to sell I'll try to sell it locally. Also I wouldn't sell it alone, it would be part of a four watch consolidation (I know, I know, I've been on about this for ages) I don't want to sell to get another watch of a similar level.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote:Definitely good stuff. Re: Got my Trident Back, shouldn't have bothered
I wonder if that cushion got ripped apart by an overzealous customs agent to check there was nothing stashed inside. I struggle to see how the sides could come off in transit if it was sat in the recess in the box...
If anything this is a strong argument for using service pods for everything!
Glad to see you got a good result out of it in the end

Re: Got my Trident Back, shouldn't have bothered
The cushion wasn't able to be fully inserted into the recesses due to the extra flap that was in there. ALL the CW watches I've received have been floating in the box after a week of travel.Stone wrote:I wonder if that cushion got ripped apart by an overzealous customs agent to check there was nothing stashed inside. Also according them they never used service pods, must be a figment of our collective imagination.
Yes a good result so I'll stop the comments like the one.
