I hear ya. The watch is a complete work of art but also loud and kinda ugly . The hour chime is a bit fancy-pants. Marvel of a complication but the GMT is a simpler device for a traveling person. No relation. Speaking of GMTs, I truly forgot how nice those early Tridents were. When I first joined this forum I had chances to buy either one of these and I stupidly skipped them. I look at both more fondly now than way back then. The orange GMT is one of the best CWs ever created for sure.

And (returning to the main point of this thread) that’s all you need to say, whether it’s about a GMT, chronograph, dress watch, moon phase, diver or anything else for that matter.

Wear what you like and like what you wear.

While I still find the Tribus to be a stunning watch, I find my C65 Trident GMT to be easier to read.

I own 2 GMT watches, I like the look and they are functional when I travel. I do like the 24 hour format.

My CW 65 GMT pepsi is my favourite watch. So you can say that I love a GMT hand.
I keep track of the time in NZ where my mother lives. And when I travel, which is rare, I set the 24 hand to my hometime.
I love a worldtimer also. So cool to look at the various places on earth and see what time it is there. And realize I will never see them myself, which is OK. I have no pressing desire to see the Azores or Noumea.
Of course i still have to calculate inside my head for places that have DST.
First world problems ... I know I know

Probably not, but there’s just something about it that doesn’t sit right with me. I know why it’s there and I appreciate the complication for the use that it was designed for but there have been a good proportion of prospective purchases that have completely put me off buying because they’re a GMT.

Friday moan over
Totally! I am of the same opinion. Horses for courses i suppose. I really dislike the ugliness introduced by that extra hand which is not only unsightly but also often confusing (better executed on some watches than others). Also I don't see a point of GMT complication (or date for that matter) - and I travel a fair bit. Now a JLC Reverso Duo is another matter - one watch showing two time zones - that's cool.

For me it's totally dependent on the particular watch and how they implement the 24 hr hand. In opinion it MUST be a different color from the hour and minute hands and should be a color that's less noticeable on first glance. It shouldn't distract from reading the time, BUT it must be easy to find and legible when you do need it.

This is my Grand Seiko, and I think they did a great job with this one. The bright silver hour and minute hands and indices stand out and are easy to read, while the 24 hr hand with its contrasting red color work well with the overall color scheme and has no legibility issues.
