Reality Speaking!

We have to realize that in order for Chris to employ a mechanical movement such as the 7750 in his more complicated watches like the C4, his price would have to nearly double. There is no way where he could keep the price the same. If you notice, all of his models are pretty much in the same price range or close. Affordability of fine watches is his big strong point for attracting customers.

We may be willing to pay Chris double for a mechanical chronograph but how would that affect his overall business right now. The ETA 2824 however, should be the exception and could be employed more in the CW models suited for this movement but the primary problem is the availability as we have talked about before.

I believe you’ll see more mechanical movements in all CW’s models someday when availability increases and price comes down, perhaps in 2 years. ETA is barely keeping up with demand, according to information I’ve read. I’m sort a hoping that the other Swiss companies who have given the rights to clone ETA movements will become the new heroes of the industry.

Good news! I asked Chris about this. His response..."[chris] no it was an omission on the designers part..."
The C15RKK is still scheduled for production. :D

It is futile to discuss about matters of taste.

In spanish we have: For each taste there is a color

Thanks Kip,
Great news, it's the one I'm most interested in at the moment, definite purchase for this year :D . C7 is a nice one too, but quartz; still I might just go for that too... :)

A word from the man himself.
We have debated the quartz/mechanical thing for quite awhile. If you don't think CW is aware of his niche, you have severely underestimated the man.In response to a post I made... Chris is presenting his point of view. Chris granted permission for me to post his response here. Enjoy.

nice one Kip

emotive subject it would seem.....

Both Quartz and mechanical are important.....

lets think about what we want to do ... put luxury watches within the reach of everyone.... so are only mechanical watches luxury watches...are quartz watches inferior to mechanical...some would say yes...some would say no...they work in a similar way and are both produced in Switzerland....the differenc being the way they are powered or how they are perceived in the market place...

if we only had quartz...this forum would not be here....
if we only had mechanical...we would not be here....

we need and the market needs both...simple economics...the more quartz we can sell the easier it is to develop mechanicals...the more mechanicals we sell...the easier it is to sell quartz...

If there is a crossroads, and one chooses to go down it ...it doesnt mean you cant come back or connect accross via another road....driving down a road in one direction is .... well boring.... you see less...you touch less.... and if you run out of petrol (read Mechanical).... then more fool us for not realising the tank was almost on empty....

The reality is..... the market demands both...we need to do both....as we grow we will be able to offer more mechanicals ...and in different guises....this is why bothe the c2 and c7 cases have been designed to take both chrono and auto movements...

anyway I ramble...but it certainly did spark a debate didint it...great!

regardss CW
