From zero CW’s to three within a month!

Post by Bix »

It’s fair to say I’ve got the CW bug, it started with my C63 Sealander GMT in 36mm which I’ve got a vintage oak leather and consort bracelet for and I love this little watch!

Then the sample sale came along, I was a bit under weather on the day so couldn’t attend which I was gutted about.

Then I spotted the online sample sale and managed to pick up a C65 Dune Aelion in green and a C60 Trident 300 Pro 38mm in black.

Amazing price for both and chuffed with their condition too. Very different watches but both great, the Trident especially I’ve really fallen for!

Did anyone else double down on the brand after your first purchase or did you take it a little slower? If it wasn’t for the sample sale I wouldn’t have gone quite so mad but I don’t regret it at all :D

I did my first two in two months. Thankfully missed the early stuff in the sample sale. There was a watch there I wanted but thought I'd prefer staying married. Grabbed a C63 Sealander Elite and a C60 Pro 300 Bronze a month apart. January sale and January sale part deux. It's probably more like two in three weeks.

Eagerly awaiting the June sale and some good luck. Would love to have a Bumblebeast but don't think those will magically appear again.

Also have the CW bug! They are really nailing it in my defence and I heard something special is being launched in April as well….

Congrats on the trio! Wear in the best of health and enjoy continuing collecting at the same velocity!

Well I'm still waiting for my first (C1 moonglow LE) which was meant to be with me on the 20th of March.
Not sure if I'd jump too quick on another. We all ordered this on the 14th of January some have had the watch for 3 -4 weeks while others are still waiting.. meanwhile they have released the MJW watch using similar movement and people also have them on their wrists ..
Communication has not been great either. I can forgive lateness but can't forgive bad communication. It leaves me worrying if any problems happen that it won't be addressed appropriately.

Hi,

My name is Mohsin and I too am a CWatchaholic.

1. My CW journey, if you will, started this January with a Mineral Blue Twelve on the bracelet. I had been in the market for an affordable integrated bracelet watch. This one had everything I wanted (date, indexes instead of numerals, textured dial, etc) plus a unique blue/green color.

2. Shortly afterwards CW released the Dune Aeolian collection and I fell in love with these dials. As someone who grew up in the middle east, I felt I needed this watch. This brought the Sand Aeolian Dune into the fold.

3. I started itching for a fun colorful rubberstrap watch, this led first to an Ice Cream Peach Twelve.

4. As much as I love the Peach, I wanted more colors in the lineup. This week I received the Frosted Lichen Twelve on the matching color rubber strap.

At this point I have purchased more CWs than there have been years in this month. Currently I am itching to add a 40mm Arctic White Twelve to the collection.

But with all the hype of a pending release, I feel I must resist and see what this new watch is before I pull that trigger.

Thank you for letting me join this club.

If one takes a look at the Timeline in the CWArchive you will see that CW keeps a good stream of new model launches each year, often linked to the realease of Loupe Magazine.

Buying multiple CW watches at the outset is nothing new.

Having discovered CW in April 2012, I proceeded to buy three watches in my first order; a C9 Chrono LE, C11 MSL Black Manta and a W5 Matisse for my wife, in May 2012. :D :D

Both great choices for your first two CW’s

I keep looking at bronze watches, but yet to pull the trigger on one. The fact you get a COSC movement with the CW offerings does make them more appealing than other brands though. I’m pretty sure there was a Bumblebeast in the last sale so you might get lucky!

That’s a cracking CW collection you’ve got there, love how varied the dial colours, complications and styles are too. I always find it so hard to stray away from a ‘safe’ black dial, especially as the CW black dials are so well done! The only negative for my recent influx of CW’s is I’ve sold 6 ‘lesser’ watches this month as they aren’t even in the conversation with my new arrivals :D

This sounds super frustrating and not as uncommon as it should be from what I’ve seen and heard.

I actually should have had my first two CW’s back in January during the sale, but I received two incorrect watches. The customer services emails were incredibly hit and miss throughout and was nearly enough to put me off the brand once i finally received my refunds.

I found ringing them and actually speaking to someone was the best solution. Also got stuff sorted out much faster that way too.

These customer service issues are super frustrating though and I know how much it can put you off. What I will say is the products themselves are so good. I spent a couple of months looking at alternatives and ended up back at CW and now I have them I couldn’t be happier.

I hope they manage to sort your order out and you can put it behind you and enjoy the watch when it arrives.

I feel a little better now having read your journey

The dials on the Twelve’s are absolutely stunning, intergrated bracelet watches aren’t really my thing but even I was tempted just because of the dials!

Sounds like you really like the Twelve though as you now have 3 and want more. It’s great when you find a watch that’s exactly what you wanted.

The Dune sounds very fitting given your roots too, the dial on them really is cracking. I’ve been having some doubts about my colour choice as I really like the blue and grey also, but there is no denying how great the watch looks.

Hope you manage to hold out for the new release, but if you don’t I’m sure you’ll love another Twelve

There’s definitely no shortage of new models that’s for sure and doesn’t help applying some restraint to more purchases!

Nearly 13 years since your first purchase is crazy, I bet it’s amazing to see how far the brand has come since those early days. Dare I ask how many CW’s you have now :D

I’d like to say I’m surprised, but I’m kinda not to be honest

Here’s a more tricky question, is there any you’ve sold that you wish you still had? I see quite a few people having regret about letting some watches go. I’m yet to experience that myself thankfully!

Not especially.

There's one or two I feel it would be nice to have back, but I'm not desperate and I don't have any regrets.

It's true to say that there are several models that I've owned, or own, more than once; sometimes even having two of the same watch at the same time e.g. most recently the C60 Chronograph #BumbleBeast (I've owned four over time) and C60 Anthropocene GMT keeping one on straps and the other on bracelet.

Again though, no regret in selling them and if the opportunity presented itself I'd likely sell. I have an ethos that if a CW Forum or CWE Facebook Group member would like to buy one of my watches, bar a few untouchables, I will willingly sell.

I've been fairly active since my first purchase. From my first order to my most recent, I've bought a CWL watch (on average) every 41.25 days.
