CW #1: 2010

CW #2, 3, 4, 5: between September-December 2020

I have 7 at the moment but have bought and sold probably around 20 over the last 5 years. It just took me a while to catch to collecting bug.

I’d like to say I’m surprised, but I’m kinda not to be honest

Here’s a more tricky question, is there any you’ve sold that you wish you still had? I see quite a few people having regret about letting some watches go. I’m yet to experience that myself thankfully!
Not especially.

There's one or two I feel it would be nice to have back, but I'm not desperate and I don't have any regrets.

It's true to say that there are several models that I've owned, or own, more than once; sometimes even having two of the same watch at the same time e.g. most recently the C60 Chronograph #BumbleBeast (I've owned four over time) and C60 Anthropocene GMT keeping one on straps and the other on bracelet.

Again though, no regret in selling them and if the opportunity presented itself I'd likely sell. I have an ethos that if a CW Forum or CWE Facebook Group member would like to buy one of my watches, bar a few untouchables, I will willingly sell.

Guy
That’s good there’s no regrets considering how many you’ve had, having two of the same watch in different straps/bracelets really shows you love that Bumblebeast too. Same story with the Anthropocene GMT and I dont blame you, fantastic looking watches that unfortunately my skinny wrist can’t pull off

That’s a good attitude to have with the rest of the collection though, I’m similar and have 4 watches that are very sentimental and will always have a slot in the collection. The rest could always potentially be let go if the right watch came along.

My only recent regret is getting the Dune in green, I was going back and fourth between the green, blue and grey but knew they would likely go if I wasn’t quick due to the very attracrive sale prices. I’ll see how I get on with with, but if I could change it for a grey one I’d do it in a heartbeat! The joys of sale purchase eh??

I've been fairly active since my first purchase. From my first order to my most recent, I've bought a CWL watch (on average) every 41.25 days.
That’s some good going mate! Easily done though no doubt with so many great releases. What would you say is your favourite so far?

It’s good to hear others buy and sell quite a few, I’ve only been ‘into’ watches for just over a year and have sold over 10 watches in that time. I figured I was just finding my feet trying to figure out what watches are really ‘me’ if that makes sense.

I guess with some watches no matter how much you like sometimes they just don’t do it for you when you have them on wrist.

What would you say is you favourite CW of the 7 you currently have?

@Bix, I went through a period of about 2.5 years of constantly buying and selling before it slowed down. That’s exactly how I view it in retrospect, finding out what exactly I like and don’t like. Like you said, liking the pics on the internet do not equate to liking it on the wrist!

I have a new C12ti in 36mm that’s in the honeymoon period, but I think my favorite CW I’ve had is the C63 Elite. That is my most worn watch since I picked it up 2 years ago.

The Elite is an absolute stunner, like quite a few models a bit big for my very small wrist but I’ve admired it from a distance for ages

I am part of the slim wrist club, at about 6”. I find the C63 elite very wearable and comfortable due to its thinness and light weight. It’s all down to personal preference though, I hope you get to try it on someday!

Nice to see these collections emerging.

I’ve been steady at four for a couple of years now. The most I’ve had at any one time is eight, and I think I’ve had about fifteen in total.

Same wrist size as me then, next time I’m at CW towers I’ll have to give one a go. I must admit I tried a Lumiere last time I was there and although it ‘looked’ big on my wrist it didn’t feel it thanks to the titanium

My fairly recently discovered sweet spot is about 36-39mm providing the L2L is fairly compact.

For me it’s just nice to read that everyone tends to go through different models with only some staying around in the collection. I’ve wondered if I’m the only one that buys and sells relatively regularly!

@Bix - no particular favorite but recently the Pro 300 Bronze has had a lot of wear. Something good to reveal tomorrow though.

I have a couple of slightly related questions.

@morgbug Is it you who often mentions divorce? I mentioned my wife’s general wtf attitude to my 4 months of collecting. I even mentioned possibly hiding watches. Thankfully people advised that honesty was best but nobody seemed to share my problem. I’m surprised this vague topic isn’t mentioned more often. How resistant to new purchases is your better half?

@Bahnstormer_vRS After 4 months I have 3 automatics. And a wife that seems to have accepted my hobby but is unaware I have another purchase coming. Thankfully winding/power reserve has served as a useful brake on my purchases (that and a forthcoming expensive skiing holiday). I like all my (3!) watches wound, set and ready to put on. Having bought the £35 double winder I’m now all great. How does this work with 35 watches? I presume there’s just a point when you give up on having them vaguely wound?

I just looked @timepieces_and_bags instagram and noticed the crowns were often left out. Is that the trick? Wound but needs setting.

This kind of OCD behaviour of wanting them wound is really helping me limit purchases to straps. I would love a Sinn 556, a 3, 6, 9, 12 Ranger-style watch and also a Sealander GMT or Seiko Prospex GMT. However the new watch coming next week is a quartz PRX for the summer vibe. Nature finds a way.

It’s all too difficult to resist once you start.
Have lurked here over the last 24 months since buying the great supercompressor. Learnt loads. Have subsequently bought 4 more watches from various “posh” brands but the twelve x is winning the competition for wrist time by a mile (or hours!). Just a fabulous watch!!
