Forum Upgrade - October 2021

Post by Kip »

The Forum will be doing a software upgrade on Wednesday October 6, 2021. The forum will be down from approximately 09:00 AM – 21:00 PM BST (08:00-20:00 GMT) (04:00 AM-16:00 pm EDT). We expect it to be much quicker, but a 10 hour window provides contingency for any issues. We suspect it may only take 6-8 hours. We are making every preparation possible to insure that this goes as smoothly and quickly as possible.

The forum will remain online and reachable during this time to regular visitors and forum members but will solely display a “Scheduled Maintenance” type message, navigation any further will not be possible.

Tapatalk functionality will be unavailable to all and sundry this time around and probably see error message “Forum unreachable”, “Server down” or some other doomsday type message you can ignore.

This a predominately a behind the scenes functional and security upgrade. Do not expect to see any visual or functional difference when back online.

Thank you for your patience during this upgrade.

Well now...that seemed to go fairly smoothly and without too much delay.

I hope you all survived with minimal withdrawal.

Thank you for your patience.

FYI Kip, since the upgrade I have to log in every time I come back to the forum, whereas before it would automatically log me back in. I tried clearing the forum cookie from my browser but it hasn't made any difference.

I'm having the same issue since the upgrade Malcolm.

I'm able to stay logged in between visits, but I have the site bookmarked at: index.php
Might want to give that a try to see if it works for you.

Thanks chaps. We are aware of this issue and apparently it is common for these sorts of "cache" issues to happen after an upgrade, but it should stabilise for you over a fairly short period of time.

Welshlad is correct. Usually within a few days to a week or so these little annoyances take care of themselves.

The Admin Team has also been working on a few other minor glitches today that hopefully you didn't even notice. Again, this is not abnormal after we do an upgrade.

I have never been able to remain logged in even during a session. If I don't post, I find I have been logged out after a while. I always have to log back after leaving the site.

I thought that was how it worked.

Probably a daft question but you do tick the ‘remember me’ box when logging in don’t you?
