I think that it's also about exposure. Rolex's stock rose when Ian Flemming wrote about what James Bond wore on his wrist. Now, if we could only get Daniel Craig to wear a C900 in the next Bond film...I wonder what gadgets it would have?Bahnstormer_vRS wrote: After all, how long had Rolex or Omega been making watches before they produced their first iconic watch.

If we consider a watch that makes any brand 'iconic' it's often one of their early models. For that reason I'd have to say C5.

The word you are looking for Scooter is 'ironic', not 'iconic'scooter wrote:Iconic. That's an easy one.

I would say C5 as well.
I thought about the Trident C60, but it is a real Marmite watch, despite being so popular, so not really an icon.

If only we could look into the future. It's the sports watches that come to mind when thinking about iconic; Rolex SM & Daytona, Omega Speedmaster & PO, TAG Monaco & Carrera, all have been around for years. For now I'm enjoying my C8 MKII, C60 Trident GMT & C900.
Re: Food for thought: what's the future "iconic" CWL model?
I would argue that it is possible to create brand icons early in the life of a company. As an example, we could consider the Bremont MBII. That watch is instantly recognisable and somehow contains the essential elements of the brand.
For CW at this stage I would say the original C5 is the best contender so far... but, probably, the best is yet to come.

As I mentioned earlier, I feel there are two icons so far:
The C5 as the iconic watch so far from a customer/external perspective.
The C60 Trident from an internal CWL perspective, as it is the runaway success of this model that has given them the freedom, license and funds to really kick on and take their business forward.

I'd have to say the original C5 auto.
The C60 is a modern upstart which is just a homage to the Rolex Submariner. It's definitely not iconic.

Most of the C9 line seems to be limited edition: you can add to the C900 and Jump Hours the Forum LE (red twelve) and the chronograph models.Sifion wrote:...C9 line(also because of the awesome limited editions so far, JH I and II and C900 Monopusher

Even though I also voted for the original C5 automatic, we would have to admit that watch was also an homage...Mortis wrote:I'd have to say the original C5 auto.

In fact the C5 MkII is even closer to the IWC.

I have never seem that one from IWC. Good point.

Will CW turn away from doing homage type watches in the future?
