Feel like I've been had.
Hi all
For those of you that don't know I arranged a custom trident c60 for the submarine service
Seen here
I managed to get 60 of these made all in all all the 2013 ltd edition c60.
I knew as part of the project CWL was looking at releasing a generic submarine service watch, but was told it would be different to ours. Ie different back as the front can't really be adjusted
So I've now found out they have for sale the generic submarine watch
.
As far as I can see the only difference is the personalised engraving which can be added meaning my ltd edition doesn't feel very ltd at all.
To ad insult to injury I found this out when a friend of mine purchased one of the 60 watches we had made. One of the original buyers dropped out so we had a blank one made. My friend decided he would buy the blank one which was part of the original 60.
I was emailing CWL to find out if the last of the watches had been paid for and discovered they still had the blank one at CWL.
The watch my friend bought wasn't part of the ltd edition at all. It was made up of extra bits that had been ordered. My friend isn't too bothered but I am considering it was me that sold the watch to him.
When we originally went through the process we had large delays waiting for faces and back plates. Now I think we were waiting for CWL to order the generic ones as well.
I can't complain too much as I got my watch for free for my efforts. Now I know they are selling generic ones I've been sold well short. CWL didn't have a clue about the submarine service and wouldn't have sold any watches with their original plans.
My watch isn't feeling that special
Anymore and just angers me when I look at it.

Re: Feel like I've been had.
You can only find it if you type in the word Submariner in the search facility.
I don't think that you can buy it.

Re: Feel like I've been had.
The annoying bit is the submarine service has loads of sayings / mottos
The silent service
We come unseen
Run fast run deep
Etc
Why use the exact same one. It would have been a small change but would have been enough.

As I intimated above I don't think it's on general release.

Re: Feel like I've been had.
Greg,
Have you checked with CW (Wera) whether this is an actual offering ? I'm not defending them at all, as with a specific "C60 Submariner" search you can easily find the page you've shown, however I can't find a way to come across the watch using the normal menu options for C60's, Tridents or new watches.
There have been occasions in the past where "hidden" watches can be found via search that are not actually for open sale... searches for NN were a crafty trick in times gone by for trying to find and attempt to buy Nearly New watches prior to the official sales. Effectively the site has been riddled with dummy or "preparation" pages.
So can you actually buy one... I don't know, and for your sake I would hope not... especially if the expectation was there that any such offering would have been more different.

Re: Feel like I've been had.
It's not the price we paid. And I've just successfully added it to basket etc.
Not just that. If they are not for general sale they shouldn't be making watches out of spare bits and selling them as part of the 60 when they are not. I don't think they realise how small the service is. Like the guy in question Shares my office. He wouldn't have ever known if I hadn't have seen it. Very dishonest sale.

There are quite a few added to the search options that never go live as such.
It may have been added to facilitate something their end on the system they use

Can I suggest that you check this with Wera... I can appreciate your feelings - but it is worth noting that I believe that special editions such as yours are added to Magento (their eCommerce system) - hidden, but there to allow the ordering to be put through (everything goes through one system...)
You can see this by the fact that you can also search on Lotus and pick up the LE C3 for the Lotus Seven Club - this is clearly a LE and not CWL selling it separately - but it follows the same pattern as the Submarine C60 - you can find it through the search system, but it is not otherwise listed...
I would suggest that this might therefore simply be a quirk of the system... of course it might be exactly as you describe, but if a) the item is available to order and b) CWL are selling it as a general watch it does seem very strange that it is not listed by CWL through the menu system...
without asking Wera it is impossible to know - but knowing the software it suggests that the above could be the scenario...
