That's a bit unusual, a single-handed collaboration. :D

I like it, but still prefer the CW Mki Jumping Hour.

The price? Well? If you know and understand what Fears as a brand is all about; then you'll buy one.

My understanding was that they hand built their watches (don't really know much about them). I read the link and it appears every part for this is sourced from elsewhere and then they assembled this watch. Nothing wrong with that per se, just wondering about the "hand built" bit and the price.

I do like the look of 1 or 2 Fears models, although I don't really understand their positioning as a brand.
This collaboration hasn't turned out great imo. Not terrible, but nothing to shout about.
I was expecting something really exceptional (out of the ordinary), but it looks a bit meh.

Compare this to the Bel Canto for £1k less ...

For some reason, I haven't bought into the Fears story but I am sure they do wonderful things and their prices support that.

Looks good for those that like that style and again links CW to a higher price point which I can't decide if that is good or bad. With a limited number they should sell out.

I'm another one who admires Fears and the lengths Nicholas Bowman-Scargill goes to make his watches special. They've never really been for me though. I'm not a fan of jumping hour watches either. It's nice to see CW revive the JJ01 but I'm not going to be a customer.

I have no problem having CW linked to another 4k watch. I think it's a good thing. Given how competitive and crowded the sub 1k market is I think CW will need higher margin, more profitable watches to grow. In the longer Watchfinder interview Mike France has said that they want watches in the 1k, 2k and 3k market segments. I don't think they'll do a Seiko and leave their lower tier watches behind but we may see less variation there.

Definitely a whopping great big no from me. But then I don't like any of Fears' watches, so I'm guessing I'm not their target demographic with this new one.

I was wondering how this collaboration would make sense. It is clear now. Basically a jumping hour Brunswick. Not my cup of tea but then not every watch is built for me. I do like the Fears Archival1930. I think that is what I would grab if I were in the market for a Fears.

Important to note you must be a club member of the Alliance of British Watch & Clockmakers at a cost of £55 a year to buy one of these:

If you’re paying £4k for a watch, the additional £55 to become a member doesn’t seem too bad.

^^ It doesn’t sound as though membership means you’ll get one, merely that you’ll be eligible. There could be a feeding frenzy unless I’m reading it incorrectly.

Lol right? I just don't want anyone to miss out because they missed that detail and didn't establish membership before they sold out.

Very much not my cup of tea, but it's cool to see CW and Fears collaborating on this. Maybe a future collaboration will be more my style!

Not for me, either, but I do appreciate what Fears is doing, and am totally good with the partnership here. One thing about the design: In one of the drawings I saw for this -- on the Scottish Watches Instagram channel -- the hour indicator looked like it was the same color as the dial, rather than black text on white background. I kind of think that would have been a classier look. . .
