Falling out of love
Falling out of love
I’m really falling out of love with this brand. Ordered two! Blue Marine sealander special addition back in March 23. Still waiting, delayed, due End of November!!!
They made a gesture of a second strap. But the longer I wait the more irritated I get, that I still don’t have the watches.
Just in case you were thinking why two? One was for my brother 60th, (long gone) and one for me, so we have matching watches.
To rub salt in the wounds, I’ve seen two of these watches previously come up on eBay one in the states, one in the UK, it’s driving me nuts.

Re: Falling out of love
Why get wound up about the delay?
You've been told end November and been given a sweetener. Just sit back and wait patiently.
If you cancel and get a refund, I'm sure CW will be able to resell your watch.

Way to go at minimizing his justified frustrationBahnstormer_vRS wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 7:11 pm Why get wound up about the delay?

Must be great solace knowing they can resell his watch that he's waited for 8 months to receive.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote:Why get wound up about the delay?

Re: Falling out of love
We’ve seen this a bit with the Bel Cantos as well. It’s not a good look when the flagships get caught up in these delays like they’re kickstarter watches.
I know producing something is super hard, but I can’t remember the last LE that didn’t sell out almost immediately. You’d think they’d all be ready to go at the time of order.

Re: Falling out of love
Definitely understand the frustration here. Are CW having some sort of cash flow problem? You’d think they’d be swimming in cash from all the Bel Canto sales that generated millions in mere hours… all these delays like indeed a Kickstarter brand are not flattering.

6 months for a 150 piece le is a joke and reflects very badly on cw. They should have them ready to go at l o at launch. As mentioned this is now a well established brand and not a kickstarter start up.
The op has my sympathy on this one.
While I am on the band wagon i think the time people are having to wait for their BC feels wrong when there are so many other colours and special editions coming through.

Yes, I mentioned elsewhere that there seems to be a steady stream of new releases, while some existing orders seem to be taking quite a time to fulfill.stefs wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 8:53 am 6 months for a 150 piece le is a joke and reflects very badly on cw. Re: Falling out of love
It is like dealing with a child who keeps getting new toys out to play with and not tidying up the rest first. Either a bystander is going to think, wow, they have a lot of toys or wow, what a mess.
To me, CW look a bit of a mess, rather than giving off the air of exclusively and high demand.
The Bel Canto aside, to have Sealanders, Lympstones and many others not in stock looks a bit daft.
It certainly appears a conscious change in approach though with almost any release that they end up pre-order immediately either without any to go or just a very small batch.
However as long as CW are clear on the expected date at the time of sale and that it is not in stock it shouldn't upset the customer - but that comes with the responsibility of making sure expectations are met and dates do not slip as new toys begin appearing on the horizon.

Re: Falling out of love
I think that in some cases there is unobtainable level of customer expectation, also when factored into the price point. Delays and wait times from Rolex, Tudor, Omega etc are acceptable but CW are not?
From my understanding the BC was a surprise hit, so scaling up production is harder than one would think. Many of the parts were outsourced. Thus changing an order from a few hundred to several thousand is not as easy as one would think. Chronode would have timetables for a lower production and have other orders to satisfy.
With regard to other stock levels, most companies use J-I-T sometimes it fails. If an L.E. is not popular, why make the full run and then sell them off cheap? Omega seem to concentrate on L.E.'s that are not numbered so they can stop production when they feel like it, which is where CW seem to be following.

Re: Falling out of love
@Stuart1 to your point, CW did not even plan to release the green LE immediately after the blue. They did so to take advantage of the fervor when they saw the success. They could have waited until they figured out how to properly scale up.
That’s just me being devils advocate. I have stayed away from this thread thus far because I think complaining about it and getting wound up about it is an extreme case of first world problems. And your first point about the double standard stands.
It’s just watches.

Re: Falling out of love
I'll give CW credit for comping the extra strap, but that wait is ridiculous. It's a great looking watch so IMO I'd wait it out and get it on your wrist before making any final decisions. Maybe cancel your brother's and get him something different that is available now?

Hopefully in December, you'll be reporting back about how much you enjoy your Sealander.
