Factory? Really?

Post by tikkathree »

I've just watched this, to learn about "the factory" where the Bel Campo is made.

Cut to photograph of quartz watch described as "the automatic C3 Malvern chronograph": just before schoolchild error "ultra unique".

Not a factory...

Mike French rather than France...

C5 Malvern 595 described as a C5 Malvern auto...

C3 Malvern Quartz Chrono described as a C3 automatic chrono...

The poor man needs to get his facts straight.

Well at least he got the country right. This did amuse me but I figured leaving comments would do neither him nor me any good.

Perhaps this guy forgot to note the facts after he saw all those amazing timepieces at CW headquarters

I'm not sure what's worse: the video itself with its countless errors, or the stream of fawning comments on it on YouTube.

I'm afraid I didn't get that far.

It surely has to be the case that someone somewhere has decided "let's just make really bad youtube content and see how far we can push the whole algorithm nonsense": that's as distinct from those youtube content makers who believe earnestly in what they're doing but actually it all just turns to cr*p.

I'm tempted to go back now and view the fawning comments but I'm not tempted enough!

@tikkathree A particular low point was the chap claiming that the Bel Canto's (at least he got the name right) FS01 module is a Miyota movement and, hence, querying how the watch can claim to be Swiss made.

It was in fact Homer, in the Iliad. These were the last words spoken by the cursed seeress Cassandra before the fall of Troy.

Unfortunately, no-one believed her.
