One thing I noticed whilst scrolling thru the 38/40/42 sizes on the CW Trident page, was how small the 38 looked comparing it to the 40 or 42.

I wonder if the 40 will affect 38 sales?
Basically, I'm for anything that gets you through the night. Be it prayer, tranquilizers or a bottle of Jack Daniels, Frank Sinatra

Undoubtedly it will cannibalise sales of both the 38 and 42 up to a point. There will have been plenty of people in the past that were ok with one of the available sizes but 40mm would have been the Goldilocks size.

^Of which I am one. I knew the currrent 42 and old 43mm would be too big, and while quite comfortable, the 38mm was always an odd size for me given it's height and short lug to lug length. I ended up selling all of the 38mm Tridents I've owned and have bought the new 40mm in blue.

I had preordered the c65 Dartmouth, but have changed that order. I did a lot of spec comparison and looking at side by side of the photos of both models last night. Ultimately I decided I prefer the case shape and design, larger ceramic bezel, less busy face/bezel and smaller lug width of the C60. I also like having a date, and it didn't hurt that the Dartmouth looks very, very similar to my SMP 2254.50. The biggest advantage of the Dartmouth for me was the COSC movement.

I'm hoping these start being sent out fairly soon.

Undoubtedly. For most, including myself, the other sizes were a compromise. The 43mm was just too hefty, thus we had to settle for the 38mm. It fits more like a 38.5mm and is a little thick so that helps but in the end it's still small.

40mm is the perfect size for most wrists. Of course bigger men will need the 42mm, but I do believe the 40mm is ultimately going to stall sales of the smallest Trident. Also, the 38mm missing the applied marker at 3 does not help it's case at all; that's actually a big deal for me.

While other companies such as Omega and Oris do offer Mid-size divers in say 36mm, CW is a smaller company and have always discontinued poor sellers so I'd say it's only a matter of time. I do believe some of their vintage pieces should remain 38mm though as it's one of the unique things that makes them look authentic and gives variety.
