Worth it to have checked it out though.
Any photos of it ?
I've taken some photos and will hopefully post them tomorrow as having problems with photobucket. It's a pig to photograph, the crystal attracts stray reflections. It's worse under artificial light but daylight isn't that brilliant either.

Just means i've got that £1250 to spend on an alternative :D
Thanks Ian.
Any ideas on what to buy ?
CW or an Alpina perhaps ?

Might grab an Alpina Startimer Pilot which are usually on offer for about £800 which would leave me the option to go for an FLE if that itch needs scratching. No loss on the Worldtimer, I didn't need another GMT.

Yes.

Zirconia (ZrO2) ceramic; same as the other current Trident 600s.

The camera images flatter it because the combination of the crystal attracting stray reflections and the sunray metal details of the gmt ring make it a swine to read. These are as close to real life viewing as I could manage.

Although buying this was initially a no-lose situation with the 60:60, my watchfund money is tied up in this until a refund from CW probably late next week so I'll be passing on the FLE as the process will I suspect be booked up by the time I have the cash unless the deposit is low.

@Tyke - Thanks for the photos. Its certainly a distinctive, Marmite (in more ways than one) watch and I can understand the difficulties in reading it. A bit like the C9 Chrono LE with silver dial, which quite a number found tricky.

I wonder what the gold dial in a regular polished steel case would have looked like.

Sorry to hear that it has disrupted your possible FLE purchase. Isn't that what credit cards are for?

Thanks Tyke, that does look ... wrong. I can't help wondering if the lack of cantrast is due to it being in a black box so that's all the gold is reflecting? I still want to love it so I'm grasping at straws, it's probably the black case as it happens with sideways sun too. You did say it wasn't going to leave the box though... I'm sure you considered it, I will ruluctantly move on :(

Wow the visibility of the watch face is bad and practically unreadable, good choice to return.

I suppose it just goes to show that rarity is not necessarily an indicator of inherent merit. Throughout design and manufacture, there are frequently reasons why some prototypes never make it to production.

But what a nerve to try to sell it and wasn't it more than a thousand pounds? Should have been given away with a discount voucher!

Ah, but to you and me, and Tyke evidently, it's an ugly duckling with a rarity value of one. If two or more people are in love with it, however, it begins to justify the tag.

It looks to be in perfect condition and the price over standard seems reasonable. I'm still tempted

I think you can make any black watch look bad if you photograph it on a black background with cross-lighting like that.

I too had thought, from the Archive Event listing, the case was black.

Except that in this photo, the case looks to be normal polished steel, perhaps with a black bezel.

Maybe Tyke can clarify for us.

That looks like a black case to me, just glare from the ambient light.

My titanium prototype was as pictured in the sale, including the alignment of the back which can vary from watch to watch. I'd be confident that it's black as the original photos show.
Current collection incl Citizen, G-Shock, Rolex, Seiko, Sinn & Tag.
