Personally, I don't see a black watch on a bracelet as a dress watch.

I would not say no to this though.

Coincidentally, Jody on JOMW stepped up a level or 3, and reviewed a two tone explorer a couple of days ago.
This might be a 36mm dress watch.
James Bond's version is very tool-like, isn't it?

It's a lovely watch, but it's definitely not a dress watch.
Too thick, too slab-sided, numbers on the dial, bracelet, and a second hand. Not a dress watch, but in 2021, could probably pass for one in anything short of a tuxedo.

I do like the simplicity of both the 595 and the slimline. Both seem to be few and far between on the sales front. I would definitely make space in my watch box for either/both.

One possible reason is that they weren’t around for long. The Slimline was retired about 23 months after its introduction, and around 19 months in the case of the 595.

I have the same and although I also have the C1 Grand Malvern 5 Day on mesh bracelet (also a decent dress watch), the C5 is certainly my most “formal” and so lives on the black leather croc strap…

Of course, if doesn’t get worn very often, particularly given the events of the last year or so, but it’s there ready when needed and I do wear it some evening, just because it’s so elegant :D

It would be great if CW introduced something similar back into the range again

So I went to buy a watch, and the man in the shop said "Analogue." I said "No, just a watch."

CW certainly looked to be shifting a lot of their dressier watches in recent sales. For me, it's a balance of simplicity and case size, so the closest I guess I have is the C1 Power Reserve (which I'm selling). I love my Jumping Hour, but it's perhaps a bit too tall.

I prefer a dress watch which is manual wind. I like the slimmer profile. I tend to agree the market for these is quite limited. Being honest I cannot think anyone who currently makes a good dress watch that doesn't cost under several thousand. I suppose it is because of us scuba to work at 300 meters.😀
