Dream CW Watch

Post by MarkingTime »

I’m in the market for a new watch and the recent CW releases have caught my attention, but what I would really like, doesn’t yet exist, which is a black Aquitaine three hander with the SW300 or a slim SH21. I’ve seen the GMT, but faux vintage doesn’t do it for me.

What, if you could tweek the current catalogue options, would you all like to see as a release?

Edit: A black Dartmouth with less fussy bezel and without the faux vintage look would also fit the bill.

This could be a rabbit hole! While I don’t know that I could describe a true dream CW, I can certainly think of a few things I’d love to see.
  • Black Aquitaine without vintage lume
  • A 3/6/9 Sealander
  • no date C60 (300 or 600)
  • A world timer with some retro/vintage appeal

Dream CW Watch

Post by MistaFroggyG »

Top of list is still a red titanium 40mm 12. Even photoshopped up a mockup:

Image

Other items:
- Titanium 38mm Trident 300 with LGP G100 movement (for 68h power reserve)
- Super Compressor with silver dial and bezel insert
- 12 with SH21 concept skeleton dial
- More interesting dials. The 12 dials are exactly what I’m looking for. The hombre and fume dials are good starts. So many of the options are just for enamel or sunburst black, blue, and white and I have plenty of those.
- Something with applied lumed numerals a la Longines Spirit

I think overall, CW excels at value for money, but I’m at an upgrade phase of my collection. I already have a Moonglow and aren’t interested in the Bel Canto, so there’s not a lot for me at the moment unless I have a watch in my collection need replacing.

I've just looked through the CW archive, as it might have happened, but I don't think it has.

It's the C65 hand wind in black, with the black bezel, but with the white filled indices and hands of the yellow LE. (or just painted indices)

I think that would be a great 3 hander companion to a Speedmaster, especially with a modified hand shape, but that's not the end of the world.

@MarkingTime. Is this a similar idea to your Dartmouth suggestion?

I have a jumping hour which is very cool but it is hard to read the minute hand. A new jumping hour with retrograde minutes or jumping hour and minutes.

Some great ideas coming through and potentially some easy LE options could come of these.

The JLP movement looks interesting and I think Sellita might be developing an upgrade to their movements too, with greater power reserve.

A highly decorated SW200 or SW300 with circa 70 Hr power reserve would be perfect.

The marine chronometer is also my fantasy! Stowa will be receiving my money in the next couple of years if CW don't oblige. Bronze case would also tickle my fancy.
If CW could also place a chime behind the vitreous-enamelled white dial then I would pay - oooh - 5k?

Some have been mentioned before but never mind.........

a 3,6,9 Sealander (39mm please but 36mm also if you want) - obviously "no date"

the shaped "Twelve" markers used on other watches (another Sealander version?)

a blue bezel/white dial C60 300/600 (including a 40mm)

less use of vintage lume

Titanium C60

a neat chronograph a la Speedmaster in a few dial colours

I have a few dreams, but a chronograph is what comes to mind first. It could be a sealander chronograph, as I have talked about on here before. 3-6-9 subdials and a date at 6.

I'm thinking if the indices were shortened a little on the 12, it would make a nice platform for a chronograph. It would have to retain its thinness though. A guy can dream!

I had 3 dream CWs, and followed through and created them :D

The VULCAN XII being my third one.

The downside is that whilst I can dream, it will actually be 2024 before I get my hands on it :(
