Does my C63 math add up?

Post by jkbarnes »

$925: C63 Sealander, 36mm, white dial, on a bracelet
-$125: CW voucher*
-$550: Credit Card rewards points redeemed
-$75: Apple Cash redeemed

$175 actually out of pocket for a new watch!

That looks like a no-brainer! Stay tuned....

. . . . and when the Loupe voucher is next available. End of this month, perhaps?

Yep! It’s a no brainer. Sounds like it’s set in stone. Congrats on the new watch!

Consider buying in GBP to even further reduce the cost? Heck, you might even get PAID to buy the watch at that point

I did the math - not quite free but it comes to $35 given no conversion rates and using £100 instead of $125.

The man-maths looks right. Impeccable, even.

The real maths is of course that you will be an additional $625 out of pocket compared to the man-maths, if you would have otherwise used your credit card rewards points and Apple cash for something else that you still need to buy, as you'd now need to stump up cash for them instead.

Sorry, you didn't want to hear that, did you? 8-[ But it gives you time to practice your response should your wife make the same point!

Sorry, I don’t do maths (or math for that matter). But if the experts say it’s good, I’ll believe it. :D

I’ve made a point of never using credit card points/rewards for necessities, only ever for fun & frivolous. If I need the rewards to cover any type of daily expense, then I need to re-examine my budget and spending habits. There is no opportunity cost here. 8)

Not if it’s under the $800 threshold.

Is it $800 in value or $800 in what you paid? My thinking would be CW would have to say what the price was irrespective of what you paid, right?

I haven’t had this situation so I’m unclear.

Either way, even if you tacked $85 on to that you’re still getting a stellar deal.
