Do your research...

Post by Kip »

CW is looking for some input from the forum in order to help improve the usefulness of their website.

They are planning on expanding and re-organizing the website to better help those who are seeking more information about the wonderful world of watches! As most of you know, they tell people to “do your research” in most of their marketing material. They intend to back this up by providing the perfect online resource for them to do so. This ‘do your research’ center will come in the form of articles, videos, and interviews.

They need to find out what questions need answers from people at all levels of knowledge. This means there's no question too basic and (hopefully) no question too advanced!

Here is the Google forms link. https://forms.gle/Up4sGC3S5Z8Y65386

CW would love your input and invites you to put your questions into the anonymous answer box?

CW thanks you in advance for your contributions.

Example questions:

What is the difference between quartz and mechanical watches?

Why are watches made in Switzerland?

What does the Christopher Ward logo mean?

What are silicon components and why are they used in watch movements?

I will not be helping CW this time as the last time CW launched a new website we all piled in with help then you said CW would have a way of thanking us for all the hardwork and nothing ever came of it.

You are not required to contribute. If you have no interest, just ignore.

Those that do contribute will be helping CW provide information to current and future CW customers. It will benefit many, I am sure, at some point. Especially those who have those curious questions pop up now and then.

There is nothing of benefit in it for anyone other than providing some assistance to your fellow man and adding further insight to the CW website with regards to CW and horology.

Btw.... I believe what I actually posted years ago was...

Key word being "could". Frankly, I forgot about this and obviously so did CW. Apparently being rewarded wasn't my first priority.

Nor was it mine as the help was given before any mention of a reward.

A little disappointed that this is only asking for single questions - I hope that doesn't mean the output will just end up being a big 'FAQ' style list, but that they're doing something a bit more interesting with it! It would have been nice to have a bit more space to respond and a wider range of questions in the survey.

They have genuinely interesting articles in Loupe regularly, so putting together an informative knowledge base well integrated with an archive of articles (and potentially bringing the two together, so tackling some of the broader questions within the enthusiast magazine) would be welcome.

Maybe one for Loupe, but I'd also love to see a 'history of CW' type thing - the archive is great, but clearly their customer base is growing (I knew virtually nothing of them a couple of years ago!) and with their 20th anniversary coming up in the near future a wee regular series of 'blast from the past' type articles (or even limited run re-issues, like they did last year with the Flyer) would be cool.

A true watch archive which you can look up a serial and see the exact specs of that particular watch.
