Divers in the context of your collection?

My three divers make up 25% of the watches that get regular wear. I’m a keen user of @Stif’s excellent WristTrack app and the data tells me that the divers have seen 23% of my wrist time this year, so I seem to have got the proportions just about right.

Ignoring my smartwatches and my cheapie casios I have a collection of just 4 watches. All 4 have that min 100M WR and a twisty graduated bezel so I am 100% which seems not what I would have every thought possible. (lumiere, white atoll, snoopy seiko 5 and b70 aerospace)

27% of what I regard as my regular or slightly regularly worn (I have therefore voted in the 26%-50% band). I have excluded twisty bezel GMTs that have a GMT scale bezel.

Of my most worn dozen, three are dive watches. I have only been swimming in a pool or the sea with two of the three.

Of my dozen most worn watches I have been in the pool or sea with six and worn all but one of the dozen in the shower.

I'm in the 26% - 50% with 40.8%; I thought it might be higher.

I've excluded GMT watches with a 24hr scale on the bezel, but included two GMT watches that have both a 60min rotating bezel and a 24 hr scale; one fixed - Elliot Brown Broadstone and one rotating - Elliot Brown Beachmaster.

I've also included two Pilot watches that have suitable WR rating and a 60 min rotating bezel; Sinn 103 A Sa (200m) and Marathon CSAR (300m).

I've taken 3 or 4 of my current collection in the swimming pool, but nothing more earnest.

2 out of current 17 are dive watches. Sold another (a Tag) … no other.

I’ve found the increased bulk and bezel to be ergo hits that need to be justified. Haven’t been able to after the two I have which were bought 4yrs ago. I don’t have a CW diver.

but i'm really a diver/tool watch kinda guy. and i've actually been diving with 3-4 of them. i say as "a backup timer," since i'm wearing a computer on the other wrist, but really i do it "just cuz."

I may need to alter my vote, to include twisty bezel GMTs, as although @Amor Vincit Omnia excluded them from the definition in his opening post, I will take my lead from CW

The watch pictured being what looks to be a gold case and bracelet, nipple dial Rolex GMT Master reference 1675

Oh well back to the drawing board!

I only picked up loupe to read yesterday as it was on the door mat awaiting my return from holiday.

75% for me, most of mine are divers for the simple fact that I find a rotating timing bezel hugely useful. I'm always measuring elapsed time for car parking, exams, cooking, sports, etc. What I like about them is that you can easily see the exact elapsed time at a glance without having to focus or interact with the watch. Although chronos do the same thing, and can measure far longer than 60 mins, I find them harder to read off the numbers because of the smaller dials.

Using Steve’s dive watch definition criteria, I cast my vote. My collection may be skewed somewhat not by an overall preference for dive watches but more by my becoming a Christopher Ward enthusiast about six years ago. A lot of CW releases have fit the dive watch definition during that time period. I know the popular Bel Canto, Sealander, Moonphase & Twelve ranges are not dive watches per definition. So, maybe I am wrong in my thinking but it sure seems like many models have been. A year ago, my collection was heavily weighted on the dive watch side to the point that I asked myself, “What am I doing? Why am I buying variations of the same watch?” Since then, I have sold three dive watches. The Forum LE finally arrived & I have added the C9 5 Day SH21 Small Seconds, C1 Russell & C63 Valour. Today I feel that I have a more balanced collection with 4 of my 12 watches being dive watches or 33%.

Well I like dive watches. By Steve's definition 56% of my collection is a dive watch. Even with the ebb and slow of my collection over the years I estimate that dive watches have always been 50 - 60% of it.
