Further update - my Artem strap that had a status of cleared customs has a new status 12 hours later. “Arrived at customs” - wtf? How can it clear customs and then hours later be sent back to customs? It’s a freaking watch strap and well under the USD 800 limit for duties. I’m guessing that the packaging is way too small for a suspected bulk drug shipment. So, going through customs twice is ridiculous.

I had a watch purchase from CW with DHL tracking initially showing it had cleared customs, then later it was being sent to customs in Ohio after being designated for an ad hoc inspection. It delayed the delivery a day or two but ended up clearing the inspection and I received the watch in perfect condition.

Lovely Highlander. As much as I'd like to blame the "dump and run" on DHL being terrible (they are), this seems to be a tactic adopted by every courier during COVID, citing employee safety, and none of them seem to be in a rush to restore signature services. I'm sure that by using COVID as an excuse, it at least partially absolves them of lost packages due to no signature, the same way the use "inclement weather" to avoid having to meet contracted delivery times, even when there isn't any bad weather within a 1000 miles of the delivery route.
The advent and increasing use of camera door bells makes that excuse a bit harder to take these days. In parts of the US package theft is a problem and not following a policy is going to get them in trouble one way or another. Given the way that Covid protocols have "slipped" in the US for whatever reason I'm less inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Just got my c63 today and they dropped it off outside my garage. I live in a complex with an HOA and they do not allow cameras in the garage area. I also did not get any txt or app notification that it was delivered. I check the tracking status every so often precisely because sometimes I don't get notified for some reason or another. Thankfully, it wasn't stolen but it could've been and I would not have any video of it being dropped off or taken. Like others, I've had many DHL deliveries, RZE and Yema to name a few, and I was asked to sign just once as well. Every other time, it was just dropped off. One time, the guy literally threw the package with a watch over my front gate. Lucky for him, at that time, I did not have a camera at my front door. My neighbor across the way just happened to be smoking outside and whatsapp'd me about what he just saw - "Dude, I hope whatever you're expecting from DHL isn't fragile cuz the motherf***** just threw that sh** over your gate. Lol". Lucky for me, the watch was fine. I have to say though, the majority of my DHL shipments had no issues besides never having to sign for it and most were delivered to my front door gently.
