Deep Dive into CWArchive Contest

Post by Kip »

The contest is now closed.

Do you like watches? Do you like Christopher Ward watches? Do you want one for free just for doing a bit of research and hoping for a bit of luck?

In collaboration with Christopher Ward, The Forum is running a research contest to promote the CWArchive that gives you a chance to win a C60 Trident Pro Mk3 watch.

You will have to work a bit, as the questions have been deviously chosen to make you look around the CWArchive to find the answers.

The contest will consist of 3 phases. Each phase will have 10 questions and last for 7 days to be run in consecutive weeks. Members with correct answers to the 10 questions of each phase (limit 1) will be entered into the Grand Prize draw for a Christopher Ward C60 Trident Mk3 watch. This means if you successfully answer the questions correctly, you will have up to 3 entries in the random draw. You may enter 1, 2 or 3 phases.

Rules

1. Each phase will begin when posted and state the entry deadline.

2. All 10 questions must be answered correctly in a phase to be entered into the random draw.

3. Correct entries are limited to 1 per phase for entry into the Grand Prize draw.

4. Entry is open to all forum members with a minimum of 5 posts to their name Prior to start of each contest phase.

5. Entries must be submitted by 23:59 hours GMT on the ending date posted in each phase.

6. Please ensure Deep Dive into CWArchive Contest Phase 1(2 or 3) is stated in the subject line of your PM/email.

7. All entries are to be submitted to Kip via a forum Private Message or email by listing 1-10 and entering your answers in the subsequent PM; including your real name and contact email.

8. Requests for answers, or voluntarily posting of answers, to questions on the CWF or any social media platform will result in disqualification of any entry to the contest by the offending member and could result in cancellation of contest.

9. All qualifying answers will be as stated in the CWArchives.

10. By submission of entry, you consent that your entry, name and/or forum name may be used in advertising or for promotional purposes by CW or its designated agencies relative to this contest.

11. Members/employees of CW, The CWF Admin Team and agencies associated with CW are not eligible.

12. The Grand Prize winner will be announced by Monday November, 16, 2020. Contacting of the winner by CW, via email, will follow announcement.

13. The CWF Admin Team shall be the sole judge of this contest and all descisions will be final.

Are you ready? Go for it. You could win this C60 Trident Mk3 watch.

Due to a proofing error, we have discovered an issue in a watch description that has led to 2 possible answers to one of the Phase 2 questions.

Although we have now made the correction to the CWArchive, either answer submitted or that might be submitted to this question, this week, will be accepted as correct for contest purposes.

Phase 3 has ended and the contest is now closed.

Phase 3

We think these questons will be a bit more difficult so have included a bonus question.

Answer all 10 Phase 3 questions correctly, get an entry. Additionaly, answer the bonus question correctly and you get an extra entry into the Grand Prize Draw.

You only get 1 try at the bonus question, but may resubmit your Phase 3 entry if it contains incorrect answers.

No bonus entry if any Phase 3 questions are incorrect.

Entry may be submitted without bonus question answer, but you cannot submit Bonus question seperately. If must be submitted with the Phase 3 questions.

Phase 3 entries must be submitted by 23:59 hours GMT November 13th to Kip via pm or email.

Please follow entry rules 6 +7 described above.

Here are your Phase 3 questions:

21. Apart from the W5/W8/W80 Matisse ranges, what is the only other range of CW watches to be named after an artist?

22. In the original CW coding system, what did the letter “R” on a strap code indicate?

23. What was the first watch by CW to use 18ct solid gold (as opposed to gold plated) case components?

24. What was the name of Chris Ward’s boat on which the “three men” came up with the idea for a watch company?

25. What was the first watch to use the v.3 “logo” in 2016?

26. Which “Collection” of CW watches comprises the largest number of “Ranges”?

27. A 2015 limited run of C4 Peregrine watches using old cases was nicknamed after another bird by Forum members. What was the nickname?

28. What was the projected production number of watches for the C7 Rapide Chronograph Mk II Bluebird LE?

29. In February 2010 Christopher Ward became an official watchmaker to which branch of the UK Armed Forces?

30. In which month and year did CW’s US showroom open in Nashua, New Hampshire?

Bonus Question -

One range of watches has a watch that contains a quote from Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in Latin on the case back.
Name that watch.
