I've never really thought about this although most of my watches have date function - Tag, Oris, and new C65 Trident LE at 3, Raymond Weil at 12 and Jacob & Co at 4 (?). Only watch without is my vintage Seamaster Cosmic. I do find the date function useful occasionally but it wouldn't come into the buying decision as that is mainly ruled by the heart not the head!

For those who prefer a simpler, clean watch face, something a little less fussy like this

unlike many here (you're all so bright....), i can't remember the date. even if i've established it in my mind first thing in the morning, i'll have forgotten it by mid-morning. the need to know the date somehow means that the date flies out of my mind. i think i have a limited RAM - a one data in, one data out kind of system.......

i require a date and wouldn't buy a watch without one...

^^^ I love triple date moonphases - now that's how to tell the time, the whole time, and nothing but the time!

Korkki, you're cruel tempting me with a watch such as this - you know they're considered to be as rare as unicorns' tears... :D

Yep. That's me. My RAM reserved for dates/airline seat numbers/current car registration plate etc is definitely defective.

Aesthetically, I'd probably choose a non-date variant but whenever I wear my Speedy, Weltzeit or Geophysic I seem to look for the date several times per day....

Whenever I'm asked for the registration number of my car my answer is always the same. 'Hang on, I'll go and have a look'!

If only they'd ask me about my cars in the seventies I could tell them.

Let's see... Seven Speedys, with not a date among them. Rolex no-date Sub. Panerai with no date. CW C9 FLE... check, no date. Two C5 Slimlines, no dates there either. 1958 Edox, no date. Omega DeVille with no date. Omega Seamaster chrono. Hmm no date there. That's 15 unless I've forgotten one.

Ok, all the rest have day or day/date, but I have to say I *really* like a no-date watch... I rarely, if ever, miss the date, but I like the clean look and it's nice to not have to worry about setting the date when I pick up a watch...
