Re: CWL GMT Dive Watch

Hi folks,
don't get me wrong in anything I say here - I think Terminator has done a fantastic job with photoshop to achieve his mockups, and I would love a GMT diver from CWL.
That said, ifCWL were going to produce such a watch, why would they produce an entirely new model?
Surely the basis for the model would be the C6? The case and bracelets are not an issue, as CWL are already buying in those pieces. As to the bezel, I guess that's down to taste, I love the look of my C6, and perhaps a riff on the extant bezel rather than an omega/rolex look-a-like?
Anyway, I'm up for a gmt watch, but would like to see the design take it's design cues from it's extant diver design.

Sorry, but I've always assumed that date lenses were for old men with failing eyesight
You make it sound like there is something wrong with being old and having poor eyesight, with God's help it will never happen to you.
Sprained mind ? More like strained brain.
Nothing wrong with it, I just don't want a don't want a design feature for old men on a watch that I'd buy, in the same way that I don't want a stairlift in a house I'm living in. If I get to the point where I need them then ok, but not now thanks.

Well interestingly I did a mockup months ago of a C6 with a GMT style bezel.

I am not getting better with photoshop as things progress. I am just getting a hold of better images now to work with. When I started all this I had to use low res pics from the CWL website but now that better pics are becoming available to work with is now allowing me to produce much better results.

So here are some more mockups which are actually modified high quality photos originally produced by Hans that have allowed me a little scope for a liitle creative licence. The first image is a Green Bezel on a Kingfisher. The only other changes are the indices and of course the date lens. Of course likes and dislikes differ but I for one really like this GMT idea with the C6 and would certainly be interested in buying one especially as an auto.

The 2nd image is of a C6 as is with only a GMT style bezel. I would be happy with this. I own two Kingfishers but the bezel always leaves me just a little bit disapointed every time I look at them. I realise that Chris wanted his diver to look a bit different but for me at least the bezel just doesnt cut it. It is not ugly but it is not stunning either.

Anyway enjoy the high res pics

That one please but with Stainless hands.....maybe even the mercedes ones

Come on Chris theres a ltd edition here or an absolute top seller. Case strap and saphire already in production, so face and hands to produce, and of course the bezel. Make that interchangeable but the user and supply black/red/blue/green with the watch (or sell them as profitable extras) uniquely customisable by the user.

With the choice of quartz or at higher price 2824 movments (tooling already done for both) you have a new range of diver that will surely sell in very large numbers................

Don't really like the GMT style bezel but I really like that burr walnut dial. Terminator is there any chance you could show us what it would look like on a standard C6 ?

Okay but all this must be seriously eating up my bandwidth lol.

All joking aside yes I do fancy a GMT type watch but I still think that if done properly ( ie luxuriously & not Ikea style balsa wood tat ) that a wooden dial watch would sell bigtime. I just feel it deep down.

Maybe that is what Chris meant by the warping issue he mentioned a few months back.

A couple of extra coats of varnish and we'll be fine, but seriously I think it looks great.

I know I am a bit of a newbie here, but all the mock ups I have seen actually have a diver bezel and not a GMT bezel. I assumed for a GMT you would have a 24 hr bezel and a second hour hand, right?

I agree with Hans that I am not looking for a Rolex clone from CWL, however, I really like the idea of a C6 with a 24 hr bezel and second hour hand. I would have to be automatic for me and I am sure that the price goes up significantly with the new movement.

Dont worry. Most of us are n00bs in here. You are in fact bang on the money. I cheated slightly lol. You see I made that bezel months ago to put on a C6 diver and it was easy just to use it again rather than create a totaly new one. It still performed its function though to create the look of an enameled bezel.

Well spotted though
