A delivery late yesterday which I have opened today has seen my CWL collection pretty much complete in terms of those I have had my eye on. The arrival of the Azzuro and Argento Bel Canto Classics is one I have been looking forward to for a while.
Initial impressions are that both are absolutely wonderful, but I am immediately grabbed by how lovely the Azzuro is. Perhaps I am holding back on the Argento a little because, rather inexplicably, both have been shipped on brown vintage oak leather straps, rather than the blue and tobacco fine Italian leather that I had ordered. Need to get to the bottom of why that is, but hopefully it's something that can be resolved rather quickly, and I won't dwell on that further.
Thankfully the camel fine Italian leather strap had been shipped to me earlier in the first partial dispatch of my order, so I have been able to throw that on the Azzurro and start enjoying it immediately.
More to follow!

Two lovely watches, particularly for a chap that doesn’t stress too much about the time or date.

Re: CWL collection (almost) complete
I thought I would circle back on this post.
As I have also mentioned elsewhere on the forum, customer services clarified that both watches had been shipped on vintage leather straps because of no stock availability of the fine Italian leathers and they didn’t want to delay further. A nice gesture, which meant that (as above) I could wear the Azzurro on the camel strap I already had. But the brown low (or no?) taper strap was not really to my taste so I wasn’t wearing the Argento, pending arrival of the correct straps. They have now arrived - tobacco for the Argento and blue for both.
So, some further reflections:
- Legibility, something I personally have never had an issue with, is a little better on the Argento because of the contrasting hands.
- The Argento is maybe a little ‘flatter’ than I was expecting, with the blue beak not quite as standout and the look that bit more industrial. The red beak on the Azzurro on the other hand is wonderful.
- The Azzurro dial is so brilliant and has so much depth, it’s one of my favorites in my whole collection.
- The camel strap is my favorite combo with the Azzurro. The blue leather my preferred choice for the Argento.
- Both are great watches, and each will enjoy lots of wear, but the Azzurro just pips it for me.

That Azzurro….WOW! Just wow.
If I were to get a BC, that might be the one. It’s a sight to behold.

lovely, acquisitions. I love the Argento - In some ways perhaps because it is the most understated of the classic collection.

Re: CWL collection (almost) complete
Great photos, Michael, they really are works of art are't they. I literally could see them in a display case in the British Museum or somewhere similar. True artisanal works. It'd be the Azzurro for me, loads of colour contrast going on there. The Argento is very nice too but, perhaps, is just too silver. Both are remarkable, I'm sure I wouldn't want to part with either.
