CWL C60 trident or Steinhart Ocean 44 GMT

Post by AdamRobinson1982 »

I got lucky... Picked up a trident in nearly new sale. Biggest thing for me (which I haven't seen in this thread yet - but could be me skim reading) is that the c60 dial.

The texture. The waves.

Love it.

Will maybe get a vintage red as they are cool. But for the time this will remain my only rolex a like diver!

Between these two models I would (and did) go C60 though I do like Steinhart quite a lot. I feel the Ocean 44 is mainly a Rolex Sub homage with a larger saphire bezel. I really like the Steinhart Ocean 2 though I'm holding out for different color options in the future.

I have both and I kept the 44 GMT because of the GMT hand (I work in a dual time zone team). It is a little wider so you need to be a "manly" man to pull it off with a suit. I wear mine all the time. I do prefer the date position on the 44.

Both are excellent timepieces and very good value for money. The strap on the 44 is big and I took 2 links out of it - so only the hulk could fit it out of the box!

The Steinhart is a pure homage to the Rolex, where as the CWL is a "passing" homage. On a good leather strap the CWL is stunningly good looking.

The 44 is German and elegant in its brutality. Its bezel is very nice as the lettering is under the crystal and glints different colours. It therefore looks a lot more than the money.

CWL has much better customer service in my experience. The recent models have not blown me away however for the price hikes.

I own one Ocean 1, one Ocean 44 GMT, and three C60s. The C60s are a better fit on my 7 1/4 inch wrist, and my C60 GMT is the best of the lot. Another C60 is on my radar.

So I ended up with neither, but got the ocean 44 (none gmt).
I think the bezel is stunning, so we'll see how it go's so far so good.

Great looking watch you have there! Too bad I have small wrist and it would not be easy to pull off a 44mm, what more with such bold designs.
