@rkovars - that graph is downright scary, Rich.
I vaguely recall seeing it before but paid less attention to it then.

Yes, I think CW has benefitted significantly from the BC effect in recent years. I don't think earlier years were as good as that.

Not convinced about the 10x cost of Rolex in terms of what you tangibly have in hand. I don’t own a Rolex but when you see Rolex’s presence in sports, other events and celebrity endorsements, it’s clear that you are paying into an image as well. I’m personally not too interested in this.
With that said, their watches as well as Omegas are going for a shiny and reflective appearance. I recently got an Aqua Terra, love it, though I bought it in a rubber strap, deliberately steering away from the shiny bracelet. All this seems to be in the effort to catch eyes, hopefully admiring ones. This all goes completely contrary to my personal preferences, hence my mainly going for brushed finishes. Titanium is also great since it has a more discreet colour and it’s light!

@maclink There was never a guarantee that a modern, affluent demographic would also be endowed with good taste.

Re: CW v Rolex
Morning all
Having bought and consequently sold many watches from the following brands, in order of remembering.
Rolex
CW
Omega
Tudor
Tag Huer
Glycine
Raymond Weil
I feel like I've found my level with CW.
Of the above I think the most impressive watch I owned was an Omega, the Omega Seamaster Nekton.
I really felt like it had a lot going on in all departments and I could see where my money was spent. But unless inherited or won, I can't see me spending thousands on a watch again.
I think I'm in a good position Having owned many watches at many values, to finally know my limit/comfort zone.
Having looked at the votes so far, I'm shocked the margin is so wide. Considering, Rolex resale values, compared to CW, which I did enter my thinking, when voting.
I'll stay on the waitlist for the Submariner, as I may find a big bag of cash, over the next few years.
But I won't be rinsing the Credit card on it !
Regards Steve

Completely agree, sales doubled 2023 to 2024. I feel the change in direction started with the C60 Concept and the move to the logo at the 12, the twin flags followed by the BC. According to Declan the BC effect brought traffic to the website which in turn generated more sales.

The Pro 300 too. It has been very popular since launch.Stuart1 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 12:02 pm

Re: CW v Rolex
No, not for me, but that's entirely a function of my preferences (and budget constraints, etc.). I mean, my wife might well wonder about the VFM proposition of my CW, given that I have other watches (not any sort of substantial collection, but another handful); but I wanted it and it didn't interfere with keeping the home or putting the kids through school, so there was no fuss there -- it was worth it to me to spend the money for the watch, and no regrets whatsoever. For me, a diver is a sport watch, and I wouldn't spend that money on a sport watch, even if I have spent well more than needed for functional purposes. I suppose Rolex really has earned their reputation, but now that they've earned it, they charge for it. CW seems to punch above its weight. But that doesn't mean that those who really want the Rolex don't legitimately value it.magicman wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 10:54 pm As someone on the wait list for a Rolex sub, and having tried many alternatives, I wondered what people thought about the VFM of a CW v Rolex.
This is the most modern of my CW watches and I love it.
The question, Is not intended to spark debate, I just would like to know, via a vote, and taking VFM as the main factor. Is the Rolex worth it ?
I voted No, I've handled one of the newer Subs in my life, a Hulk and I honestly couldn't justify the 10x asking price over the newer CW Trident.
