Ultimately, I think there will be variations on three basic reactions to this:
  • Some are going to love it, and buy it.
  • Some will absolutely hate it, and some of those may pillory the designers.
  • Some will shrug, perhaps give a Mona Lisa half-smile or a quick roll of the eyes, and get on with life.
It’s a bit of fun (actually it’s plain daft), but it doesn’t make me sad or angry. I’m in Camp 3 and heading for the South Col.
100% with you on this! And actually all of the quirky details aside, I actually really like the color scheme.
I post a few watch pictures now and then to a little Instagram account - 1 follower and counting!

Microsoft OneNote. ;)

I do actually make some handwritten notes, but they are on proper paper, not Post-Its, and use fountain pens, not pencils. :)
And you’re worried about the watch being out of date when you’re on Microsoft products and fountain pens?! 😉

The jokes still hit well enough for the offices I’ve been involved in the last few years, but I’d need silly money lying around to want to buy it myself…

Edit: and map pins, paper clips, sticky notes and pencils are in daily circulation in our production office (at a cidery) at least, if not necessarily in the admin offices.

Looks really tacky, but each to their own, will probably still sell.

But I don't think it's primarily aimed at us watch enthusiasts. I think it's more aimed at fans of seconde/seconde. I've no idea if it will be popular with them, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it sell quite well.

To me, it seems designed by someone who has a clichéd view of what office life is like, but who hasn't actually worked in one, or at least not for a long time.
Broadly, I’m in line with this. It’s a watch, not my type of watch by any means, but I’ve seen worse.

To expand on the idea of a clichéd view, it certainly does seem to hark back to those sitcoms of yore, which parodied office life. As someone who has never really worked in an office (my office was my classroom and vice versa) it seems a little tongue in cheek, dare I say it a little bit millennial. A bit like the “executive toys” that were in vogue at one time.

Ultimately, I think there will be variations on three basic reactions to this:

You succinctly summed up my thoughts. Not a design that tempts me. I prefer watches using classic design features & prefer to avoid those that feel gimmicky. As for an example, I bought a Blue Sapphire upon its release & initially was quite happy with the watch. In time, my looking through the translucent wafer that represented the ocean depths felt more & more like a gimmick. I sold the watch & haven’t regretted doing so. On the other hand, I think Mike France & his design team wish to make something playful & fun on occasion. I think Mike has used just those words in describing a watch in the past. There’s nothing wrong with that & wish them luck in selling this one. 500 is more numbers than some previous CW limited editions. If they bring some people some joy, good for them!

But it has the potential to dynamically expedite competitive collaboration and idea-sharing, while at the same time competently evisculating multifunctional core competencies.

I will circle back to provide my considered view, it won’t take much of my bandwidth to provide a deep dive. Initial reaction is that the sales won’t move the needle in CW’s P&L.

@nbg I believe that in short to medium time frames, it could incentivise the fiscally motivated redistribution of stock, especially in the Bay of Dolphins region.

I think this would be a fun watch at Mr. Jones prices. Mr. Jones, however, does “fun & quirky”with a lot more creativity and dare I say sophistication than was done with this collaboration.

Not a fan of this one. I think it will take some time to move 500 of these.

Whilst this collaboration isn't of much interest to me, it has whetted my appetite for a black aquitaine in the standard form, which I don't think has been offered?

Some people love to have something limited edition and 'unique' , 'quirky'

Might this be the new Al Deere, forever popping up in the sales?
