CW seconde/seconde/ collaboration
Re: CW seconde/seconde/ collaboration
I've never seen any of these. The nearest I've come was that Tribus "My Dog Sighs" which I also passed, even at 70%off (I think there were some at that price, at the end)OllyW wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 10:50 amCW is the latest in an ever growing list of collaborations. Can't say I've ever shown an interest in any of them.

Re: CW seconde/seconde/ collaboration
I'm not understanding the hate around this piece!
It's a one off collaboration with someone who makes irreverent and often humorous tweaks to existing models. This isn't the line of travel for CW watches or the design of the future - It's a limited edition, small run and that's it!
I didn't think it would be so polarising - although maybe the comments will help build some brand engagement!
I could understand the Studio Underdog/Moser feedback a little more with the huge increase in price but this feels well priced for a CW model. Design, like any art or architecture are subjective of course and it's OK to not love it, hopefully people's worries about future releases are quickly allayed!
For me, I like it. I like most CW watches. This is playful and will sit nicely amongst a 12 and a previous LE. It's a bit like the SU Watermelon for me - it's quirky, I wouldn't wear it every day but ultimately they both make me smile!

Re: CW seconde/seconde/ collaboration
I think I do. Although I don’t hate the watch as such.
I used to react in a similar way when CW created something I didn’t like/wouldn’t buy. I feel a slight twinge of it still, every time they release a new halo model that turns out to be another skeleton. But on the whole, I’m learning to live and let live.
There will be those who argue that a release like this “cheapens the brand” to use a rather hackneyed phrase. I’m not sure I agree with that. The same argument was used for the vouchers, though I really can’t see why anyone would want to turn their nose up at money off.
As I said elsewhere, the watch itself is daft but pretty innocuous. But this I will admit to…
I looked at the website for the designer, and couldn’t really see anything of his that I would want to wear. Also, his written style is a little…shall we say?… disruptive. I can’t say I admire the cut of his jib.

^^^The Squale with the shark bite out of the hour hand is pretty good. One of the more subtle designs. This release is fine. I am sure it will sell to Seconde fans and then everyone will go on with their lives.

As it happens the Segundo looks ok from a distance. I'm not that keen on the close up detail though. I would rather pay the same for a more "standard" look and feel, if you will.

Re: CW seconde/seconde/ collaboration
I’m firmly in the ‘fun release, but not for me’ camp. A more subtle version I could perhaps contemplate … no, not really. I don’t have the money for this kind of joke watch, nor does it resonate with why I enjoy watches. But not everything need be for me.

That, in seven words, is what I was trying to say. Thank you.

I post a few watch pictures now and then to a little Instagram account - 1 follower and counting!
Re: C65 Desk Diver
The photos I've seen look terrific. On the one hand, it' s not something I'm anxious to purchase for myself. On the other hand, if I were more of a collector, I might be very glad to have one. I think it succeeds where a lot of alternative/funky/humorous designs fail - a clever bit of design that actually works--both as a watch design and as an amusement. Well done, IMO.

Re: CW seconde/seconde/ collaboration
It’s a fun watch but not one for me. I appreciate the humor and whimsy. I’m glad to see something happening with the Aquitaine model as the line feels stalled. I enjoy the two I have, and I want the Orca Black GMT, but to make space for it I’ll have to let go of something to rationalize the acquisition as I feel guilt over the watches I already own but don’t wear nearly enough.
The collab partner is an unknown to me. I wish them well with this LE.

One aspect that fascinates and intrigue me is the notion of what can be done with bezel design. The sapphire opens up a world of potential that an aluminum insert or a ceramic won’t deliver as readily. Exciting possibilities.

Well, if you were going to think about it over the weekend, you’d better start looking on eBay.
