A few points:

They used a motion control rig to move the watch, a very complex and expensive bit of kit. I have known people to spend days (and nights) perfecting moves and lighting.

Anyone can buy FCP, not everyone can use it as the professional tool it is, not that I know what post production kit was used but FCP is at the very cheap end of that market.

As for COVID, the average motion control studio would not be very big, and if you were shooting a watch you would book a small one, many post production suites are the same, 4 people would start to look like a crowd in either.

Exactly, that's what they have done to create it - but I said it could be done by pretty much anyone with a few decent bits of photography gear and Final Cut Pro. It really could. My point was that Mike France had made out as if they'd created this groundbreaking masterpiece that changes the landscape for how adverts are made from now on, and that James Cameron had been on the phone to him to find out how he did it :lol:

Too much waffle being spouted from CW these days, that was my over-riding point. I'd like a watch from a company I can respect, Mike France/CW is not that company, not since Chris has left.

Mike France is doing what I would expect, spruke his company, which he invested his own money and time into. The product seems to be holding up in terms of innovation and quality, how they fair without CW remains to be seen but he has left the company with a decent legacy of which the three founders can be proud. Hopefully MF does not turn into 'Swiss Toni'.

No, it really could not, a turntable will rotate an object, a motion control rig does what it's name imply's, control the motion of an object so it can be repeated. Try doing a highlight pass of an object without it, something I would expect was used in this commercial.
If MF called James Cameron and asked him how to shoot it, he would tell him to use a motion control rig. :)

I have the US PGA Championship on in the background whilst working from home today. As I glanced up from my laptop during an ad break, the first thing I see is a giant C60 Sapphire on the screen. Quite a jarring experience seeing the advert ‘in the wild’ for the first time, but it must surely be doing good things for the CW brand?

I saw one while the TV was on in the background. Might have been during a rugby game on BT sport. Half saw it, and just realised what it was as it ended.
