CW Regrets

Post by TheBeatles »

Are there any CW watches that you have sold and subsequently regretted letting them go?

I was discussing CW earlier and admitted to one.

The CW Jumping Hour MkII.

I sold it on eBay, developed a fault and had to reimburse buyer. Returned to CW for repair and then eventually sold for more than I received the first time.

The irony is that perhaps the fault was trying to tell me something. I have certainly regretted the sale.

Apart from the C60 600 diver range, it’s probably the best one I’ve owned.

Anyway, the Jumping Hour is one I should’ve kept!!

Yes, there are a few. I sold more than a dozen CWs between Jan 2021 and Jan 2022, in anticipation of “The Call” from a Rolex AD.

Several tremendous models among them, but one I do wish I had kept a hold of was the C60 MK2.5 316L LE Yellow. There’s one on eBay now, and a CWE member also has one he might sell to me, but I’m still holding firm in my resolve to not buy a SW2xx powered CW watch again. My last Yellow had to go in for repair and I’d be very annoyed it if happened again, especially since they’re all out of warranty now being 2018 models.

I let the Powerglow go to a new home. I’d convinced myself it was ok to move it on to let others experience it. I felt it was too tall with the automatic SH21 movement, the case was polished and showed even the microscratches too easily. Yeah, well it went from me to another owner who was eager for it, and the buyer moved it on to yet another owner. It really is a great watch. Could stand to be slimmer, but barring that, it is a nicely styled and unique watch from CW. (OK, not unique as in there is just a single example - there were three - but more that there’s none quite like it among the CW catalogue.)

I had an OG C5 Malvern from about 15 years ago… I regret selling it. It was very classy and dressy. While I’m usually a Dive Watch guy…I loved the look of that watch on a suit. Regret selling it.

How many have I sold and subsequently bought again? Too many equates to about a dozen.
How many have I sold and been happy about it with zero remorse? Probably another dozen.

C5 Malvern Mkiii
I sold it at a point where I really needed to have fewer watches in the box for my own piece of mind. But it's a lovely watch - for my style it was the smartest watch I owned but definitely one to be worn and enjoyed as a daily wearer. Beautiful dial colour / sheen. Blued hands. Fitted beautifully. Don't know what I was thinking really

I'm certain that I'll own one of these again at one point.

I can’t really call the DBR1 a regret. It was the first time around, which is why I bought another. Sold that as well. I think I outgrew large colourful quartz chronographs.

My other one that I sold, regretted and bought again was the C5 SWx. I’ve still got the second one.

I’ve bought and sold others, but none have caused me any real chagrin.

Same... I had another of the PowerGlows for a few months, but then moved it on. Fortunately I think it has found it's "forever" home though :D

It was a difficult decision to sell, but I think some of that is down to it being a "very" limited run watch. Although I miss it sometimes, it wasn't a watch that was worn very often and although it had a lot of unique characteristics, that wasn't enough to keep it.

So slight regret that I don't still have it, but happy it's with the right owner now

I've owned maybe 20 and sold ten or so. Not a single regret. No intention of ever buying one back.

I regret this one.

Screenshot_20240219_105841_Photos.jpg

I still have the Red/Black version, which wil never leave me (Unless the wife does and takes it with her)

Over the years I have tried many other watches, and along with most of those, this one didn't stay with me that long, and I can't quite remember why that was.
But looking back over photos, I definitely regret not having a white faced/Black bezeled watch.
I have been obsessed with Black faces and blue to a lesser extent. But this is such a great solid watch, clean, crisp and was cheap too, and I would love to still own it.

I don't really have many regrets about watches I've sold, although there is one particular CW that I still kick myself for selling ...

How I'd love to get one of these back :(

No regrets. There was a reason behind the decision to sell every one I did sell and the reasons still stand. I have more regrets about the ones I didn't buy, but maybe that's for another day.
