@Amor Vincit Omnia - well that works for me. Summons up sun tan cream and small insects. It’s a good start.
I have to admit here that I have just been googling ‘words to do with summer’

We could have some candidates for the “Where’s My Watch?” game there. The only one I’m sure of the is the Radcliffe Camera in Oxford.

Re: CW Photo Competition
I’m taking pics when the occasion arises, and I’ll submit my best one just before the deadline later this month. I was at the beach yesterday, but unfortunately the sun wasn’t out so they pics weren’t the greatest. The kids had a great time though!
I can’t figure out how to get the focus just right to have both the watch and the background in focus. The pics are alright anyway!
Anyone else submitted theirs or have something to share?

We’re not quite at the October morning chills feeling in England yet, but it also feels like summer has also been and gone.missF wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 2:24 pm I’d like to point out that in Scotland, a ‘summer’ photography competition that ends on the 27th August is pure discriminatory. We’ve had our summer here - it lasted 10 days - mostly while school kids were sitting their exams. As usual. That’s not ten consecutive days.. We’re into claggy weather now that gives me migraines, occasional chilly mornings that feel like October, and occasional wild hope that summer’s returning. It won’t be.
By the end of August I’ll be making soup and announcing to the dog that ‘the nights are fairly drawing in’![]()

So perhaps we could put together a list of keywords about summer? Something to work with when I go for the competition pic? Thanks![]()

The only summer benefit remaining throughout August that we can enjoy is the low level of traffic until the kids go back to school.

Re: CW Photo Competition
I've got 3 lenses on my iPhone 13 pro, so that should do the trick. Thanks for the video @Amor Vincit Omnia, I'll give that a try next time!

Re: CW Photo Competition
I don't think I'm right. I assumed having more lenses would provide a photo mode that could make both foreground and background sharp at the same time, using a different lens for each part, but it doesn't seem to provide a way to do that, not on my phone anyway.
I have a mode called dual capture but it seems to take two different pictures at the same time.
As Steve says changing the aperture of the notional camera affects the depth of field of the lens. The smaller the lens aperture the larger amount of the image is in focus, but this also affects the amount of light that is needed, and therefore the shutter speed. Above a certain speed, maybe 1/64 of a second you start to get camera shake. Everything is a bit of a trade off, even with phone cameras it seems.

Like @ajax87 I'm waiting to submit until the deadline but I have been playing around in the meantime. Here are a couple that won't be making the cut.

If that’s what’s not making the cut, I don’t want to see what you’re sandbagging!
