CW not refunding duties on watch that arrived faulty and was returned
Re: CW not refunding duties on watch that arrived faulty and was returned
Ok, so shouldn't CW be the one filing the Duty Drawback?

@Jkpa
I am under the same predicament right now. I return the first faulty watch and they are short on the DDP when they refunded me the money. I have messaged them and told me that I can get the refund through DHL but DHL said that it has to be them that files the refund. Here's the kicker I got a second watch from CW. Which was also a lemon and have returned it. If they don't refund me the DDP I am down a price of a microband watch which is absurd. Who did you end up contacting? because I am getting pretty frustrated with the lack of transparency.

And DHL CANNOT get the duty back for you. CW is the importer in the eyes of customs so CW has to do it after they refund you. Send me a DM if you keep having trouble. I have some screenshots from DHL about this.

Attn Moose.
See below.
As CW is the importer of record under DDP Terms (Delivered, Duty Paid), they are the ones who can request a duty refund from US customs. You simply cannot as you’re only the receiver, and not the Importer Of Record. CW has to refund you, and then take the case up with DHL if they so choose.
It took me 30+ emails and more than a week dealing with CW CS on this. I hope they will educate the staff a bit more on this to avoid this confusion. Telling their customers to ask DHL for a refund is blatantly incorrect information and you’ll get the same response as DHL provided below to me. CW has to refund you, and that’s that.
I hope you get it resolved ASAP.
