Ok, for the sake of continuing the discussion only, lets assume the location somewhere around London or Liverpool.

How about what you would like to see, learn or do at the convention? A two day itinerary for example....

Day 1 arrival
Cocktail hour 7-10 pm

Day 2
breakfast - on your own

10-12 am Welcome and intros

12-2pm lunch on your own

1-3 pm Workshops - all hands on,such as strap changes, battery changes, adjustments, general servicing.

3-5 pm

7-10pm general buffet/cocktail hour

Day 2

10-12 pm tour of CWL facility

12-2 pm lunch

2-5 pm

7-10 pm closing dinner and keynote Perhaps CW

Just a few ideas to get things going, nothing carved in stone, obviously there is a lot of work involved to get something like this done. We must start somewhere. Feel free to let the ideas come forth.

Kip, what's this breakfast and lunch 'on your own' ? How can you be on your own at a forum convention? You missed out design briefs and a discussion on the history of time!

What I meant by "on your own" is you can go where you want as no formal lunch arrangements were made or paid for. Or just consider it free time. My thinking is that this is to be as low budget a trip as is reasonable as we have no formal budget or estimates nor anyone or any organization to defer costs at this point. Although the issue of sponsorships shall have to come up at some point as we move forward.

I believe you are also saying (suggesting) that discussions of time and design briefs should be added as candidates for workshops or breakout sessions.

I must admit that I had not thought about the content of the convention until now. It was second in my mind to the actual convention and date thereof.

I think the evenings should be left free so that people can travel into London for shows or shopping etc. The main core work would be from 10o/c to 12 o/c and 2o/c to 4 o/c. If that works ok for three days then that leaves two or three days for people to do as they wish. This fits in with a weeks stay. More items can be added but the main event will be the dinner with CW as guest speaker.

The venue is the most important thing at the moment and I am working on that now. I must get the price down to a reasonable level for the week stay.

Keep in mind that a 7 day vacation may only translate to a 5 or 6 nite stay as 1 day each way for travel is easily consumed, as well as jet lag involved. 2-3 days of convention, some siteseeing, and boom its over.

Most would come here for a two week stay. I think that the first week would be the convention. If people came for one week then it would be a six night stay. LHR is only a short taxi ride away so no big deal. It will be harder to make Switzerland a venue. All that yodeling!

If people arrive on the Saturday and the convention starts on the Monday morning, it will work out fine.

You only get jetlag flying west to east and best thing to do there is sleep on the plane. Go to Eckerds and get some Knock-out, it works. Failing that a bottle of gin is good.

I have the venue in mind but I dont want to approach them until we have a vote on whether there will be a forum convention. That is the next step. I dont want just half a dozen turning up, I want at least one hundred.

That's a shame. I thought we were going to have individual padded cells to eat in; make us all feel nice and comfy... :)

The individual padded cells are actually further down the road Flash. A secure prison hospital and if you go to a hospital and say 'I can here voices' they will definately take you in and look after you for a considerable time.

Kip will have very special cells laid on for those who feel the need, so have no worries.

Berlin is OK but I think the first one has to be London then probably Switzerland and then possibly Las Vegas.

This will be on the convention agenda at the first meeting.
