Except that the last paragraph of the original post proposed tiered pricing. That's the bit that makes the process difficult for limited editions.

With respect to the forum LE process, I'm all in favour of a system where CWL have some confidence in expressions of interest actually becoming orders.
There's always time for one more.

The original post only spoke of an increase in cost after release. So I stand by what I said above. I'm fairly certain that FLE's have seen prices after release as well.

As has been said in the other thread, such confidence can only be sustained if the FLE process works, as it seems to have done in the past when the brand was smaller. The issues that influenced the fall down with the last one was that the finished design was different from what the forum had voted for, lots of new models were being released (which quite probably took priority over time dedicated to the FLE) and that the eventual release date was very delayed and then coincided with a succesion of sale events. Commitment has to work both ways. Whereas I understood Kip's annoyance at FLE buyers for pulling out, we can't just blame the forum members, for these aforementioned reasons.

What a strange thread. I admit I have little to no understanding of crowd funding for anything other than start ups so was intrigued by this idea. Shame the OP didn't want to expand his thoughts.

Might try this approach at work today:

Me: Boss, I've got an idea that I think will bring lots of benefits
Boss: intriguing, but I'm not sure I fully get the advantages, can you explain further?
Me: No.

Many people seem to have differing views on what constitutes "crowdfunding" - probably because it covers a range of different funding models.

The UKCFA reckon it's this:

Don't quite see producing an FLE fitting with this.

The way to take something from the crowd funding model would be to ask for 100% payment commitment on the next FLE, and have a minimum number before it flies.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I would expand on my original idea but as usual the vultures are out in force on here, so I just don't want to get into those kinds of tit for tat conversations, its not worth the hassle to me. I don't want to engage with WUM's who are just commenting for the sake of starting some kind of argument, I'm not interested in that at all. This is precisely why I have curtailed my posting on here.

we are at 3 pages so it definitely got us talking, and reading some of the responses I think some people have got the gist of what I was trying to propose and some have missed the mark completely.
